So wait:

a) Traditional yet poor society has ritual that they have practiced for centuries

b) White guy takes practice and popularizes it and makes money

c) Traditional yet poor society has the gall to ask that perhaps the now rich white guy would like to share some of the money.credit

d) Subby somehow brings up patent trolling?

Everything except d) makes some sense to me

Does this mean that if Americans (used as an example; can be applied to many countries) are doing something that Native Americans did first, then they should pay them royalties?

Not Subby, but I think he's referring to the fact that the article mentions that Vanuatu has joined WIPO and have implemented a patent act.
But of course, it has nothing to do with trolling...

... unless Subby is trolling?!

It's not patent trolling because "jumping off things with a rope tied to you" is not patentable. Subby's wrong, but the underlying idea is pretty silly too.

Yes, but do you know why it's not patentable?

Hint: it's not because it's silly.

Up there with the fleshlight patent, that is one of my faves - it was in my textbook on utility and everything.

There's one that looks like a bicycle handles attached to a dildo so that you can fark yourself.

I wonder if there's any market for a book of naughty patents?

Surprised it wasn't retro patented somewhere in between. Like zip-lines.

Might have meant more a decade ago, but that was copyright trolling time.

I'm going to try to get a patent on bags.

The meds I buy online are shipped from Vanuatu, so I'm getting a kick.  I have the impression that island is a low-key Mafia fiefdom.

What they do is not bungee jumping. It's basically failed suicide attempts
