".... appeared to strike out Jon Jay on a breaking ball that struck his foot. (If you swing and miss and are hit by a pitch, it's a strike.) Cooper ruled that the ball hit the dirt, so Jay was allowed to take first on a dropped third strike.... "

And you lot moan about cricket and its ways...

Oh, yeah, if people don't understand baseball's terminology, reading coverage of baseball can be impossible.

Considering that Miguel Cabrera just got thrown out of a game for a less demonstrative argument about balls and strikes a couple games ago, the ump could have easily just tossed the pitcher and been done with it.

Then the idiot fan waving his arms and jawing at the outfielder too. Sad. Who the hell lets their kid get away with thinking that kind of behavior is normal or desirable?

Would have been so cool if someone submitted it with this headline:
Not news: Umpire restrains catcher from charging the mound. News: Catcher restrains umpire from charging the mound

I am thinking the catcher charging at his own pitcher would also count as news.

Major League Baseball gets dumber by the second.  If Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter had a love child, it would be named Major League Baseball.
