JustHereForThePics: Started it last night on Netflix due to a recommendation from a buddy... found it to be as profoundly unfunny as I find "The Office".

Does it ever become unlike "The Office"? Or is season two onward still mockumentary style?

Season 2 pulls back on the documentary aspect a lot and it begins to feel like its own show. Where it really diverges from the Office is in later seasons where it shows a more hopeful story compared to how the Office descended into nihilism. Where The Office became about incompetent people in a soul crushing job, Parks and Rec turned into a story of a VERY competent person who fights through all of the challenges in her way to make her little corner of the world a slightly better place, and how she never lets the world make her cynical her despite everything it throws at her. It also is cool to see how Leslie Knope's optimism does eventually make a difference, and wins her the respect and love of those around her, even if they didn't agree with her (Ron Swanson, for example). There is a warmth and humanity in the show that the Office lost once the Jim and Pam romance was no longer a focus. It's basically the anti-Office now.

Plus, the show gave us this.

Kidada and Rashida are playing the parts Bread_L and Bread_R, respectively, and I'm reading the part for Meat.

Mulchpuppy: Virtual Pariah: CarrieWhite: Virtual Pariah, have you even seen the show? It's a take on his character's use of the word.

Not enough to catch many of the in jokes.

Have a TV so it's not a "snob-thing", just never got around to consistently watching P&R.
I thought the writing of the article was unintentional in it's use.

Can any of our real English Majors explain why I don't like the use of "it's" in Virtual Pariah's post?

Probably for the same reason you capitalized "Majors."

is the reason I will always love Rob Lowe on Parks and Rec and why I hope they arrange for regular guest appearances for the two of them
