Only if they were on sale

2013-07-31 02:57:11 PM
The brand's men's jeans retail from $178 to more than $300 a pair, according to the company's website.

I am sure the Sweatshop employees that Diesel uses will be happy to know the cost of a single pair of jeans probably pays for their month's salary.

Oh look.. she's been arrested for theft before.

I'm shocked.

2013-07-31 02:59:25 PM
On Tuesday afternoon a Macy's loss prevention officer saw an unidentified woman grab pairs of men's Diesel brand jeans, place them on a sales table, leave the store and park her car in the fire lane outside the men's department entrance, records say.

A second woman, later identified asTanisha Gaillard, 21, no address given, entered the store, picked up the selected jeans and ran out of the store, where she was caught by a loss prevention officer, records say.

How did store security ever see through this clever and ingenious plan?

I don't get the headline.  Macy's is not where you buy incredibly expensive clothes.

2013-07-31 03:02:06 PM
I read that headline and then shipped my pants.

2013-07-31 03:02:37 PM
my theft charges better not be based on retail

$300 for a pair of jeans?  At Macy's?  When did they get all fancy shmancy.

Tanisha Gaillard big black letters for a reason.

2013-07-31 03:04:57 PM
So the first woman just let Tanisha hang.

Hell's bells, I went shopping recently for a pair of no-frills Levi's, and it was near impossible to find one under $50.

Depends on which Macy's. I go to one Macy's that has a personal shoppers department, bridal salon, and they keep their racks immaculate. Then you drive 5 miles east and there's another Macy's that makes Walmart look high end.

$300 is kind of the high side of the low end. My wife works for a major high-end retailer and their jeans start at $300 and go up.
Whatevs. I wear thrift store and hand-me-down jeans. I'm wearing a pair of cut-offs right now from a pair of jeans I bought at a thrift store 15-20 years ago.

Remember when I got caught stealing all those watches from Sears?  Well, that's nothing... because YOU have a gambling problem.

Yeah... I second the notion that Macy's is clearly middle-market retail.

It says that in the article.  However it does not mention why her bail is set at 50k.  That is just f'n ridiculous.

huh, I've only experienced the latter.  I prefer to get my jeans at a goodwill.  If they're not in super bad condition.  The way I see it, they're pre-broken in.

Macy's has become so ghetto anymore I'm shocked that they had a pair over $50.00

Yep. The one on 5th Ave , you prolly need a Gold Card just to walk in the front door

The one on 5th Avenue is primarily a downscale tourist trap, picked over and full of rather obese people used to roaming free on the Great Plains.

/ There's some high-dollar stuff, too.

My mother retired as a Macys store manager so she gets 40% at all times, yet she still waits for a sale before she shops there.

She occasionally receives certificates for an additional 20% off as well, so she waits for a One Day Sale and does her Christmas a few months early, sometimes paying 15 or 20 cents on the dollar.

Last week I snagged a $750 Ralph Lauren suit for around $140.

What Macy's on 5th Ave? Macy's is on 6th & 34th and is one of the largest retail stores in the world. I think there's a store in Russia that's bigger.

They most certainly have a full denim dept, including all of the designers.

True, it is on 6th.

Either way, yes, they carry nearly everything, and the customer base is far from the elite crowd Trance750 seemed to be contemplating.

If you want a store that would make an average American feel uncomfortable, it's just about the furthest thing from it short of a Macy's in a poorer city.

If you want to feel truly nauseous, walk into Bergdorf Goodman on 5th. The prices there will test your stomach strength.

Yea, and I bet that suit isn't made from organic, free-trade material. In fact, it was made by a corporation that likely underpays child-slave-labor while reaping huge profits for the old-white-executive-fat cats. And you "bought" the suit from Macy's, another pollution ridden corporation that makes profit on the back of a labor force to keep all those corporate jets on European vacations where the retirement savings of the proletariat class are spent without a care. So I hope you're happy with the destruction you have levied against, not only the common man, but also this planet, the only planet we have, for a suit.

Serious question (I know, where do I think I am?): Can anyone recommend to me some decent jeans that have a "technology" pocket, i.e., a dedicated pocket for cell phones? Bravo Two mentioned Duluth Trading, and I like that place, but I'm also a cheapskate and I think $79 is a bit high for jeans.

Anyone DUMB enough to pay that much for a pair of jeans, well, they are just plain stupid!

2013-07-31 10:27:27 PM
ran out of the store

now see, there's your problem right there. you just walk right through the door (walk through the door). and if you have a getaway car in the parking lane it's gonna be pretty easy for loss prevention and everyone else to get the license plate and description of the car.

now if you have to walk 1/4 of the way around the mall, and just sort of saunter until you're around a corner and know that no LP is following, and even then just walk a bit briskly through the cars in the parking lot...

(i should get back into the biz. last big score was macy's. me n friend actually stopped at a display in the middle of a slow department, put a big pile of clothes on it, 'discussed what we really needed to buy' while searching for magnet tags and razoring the ones worth razoring. then politely replaced what we didn't take and walked right out the door. we were feeling ballsy; if you try this at home, kids, have a bag to put your loot in, and know how to spot LP and cameras and the most likely blind spots from cameras you can't spot.)

Ooops, my bad.
You're from Florida, so let me rephrase that.
