It's not a bad headline, subby, but you would have really ramped up the volume on it if instead of "vodka," you'd typed "vodak."

See? Do you see the difference. One, "vodka," is stodgy. Stale. It's hows squares and rubes say it. It's yesterday.

The other, "vodak"...WOOO HOO. That's extreme, baby. Edgy. That's like going up to a crowded bar, ordering a mojito, and starting to shake your own hips even before the bartender begins to grind the mint in time to the driving beat. Yeah, baby, she's yours later.

I asked a Russian what the best Russian vodka was.

Answer: The one they put in front of you.

2013-07-31 04:06:42 PM
Stoli isn't that good, but at least it isn't antifreeze.

Some unscrupulous Russians just put antifreeze or other toxic chemicals in a bottle, call it "Vodak", ship it out and people drink it and die.

I only drink locally-made vodak.

I heard it from another Russian guy as "the one I just drank.". The same guy gave me a shot from a white-label bottle that nearly tore off my head...he proceeded to drink the rest of the bottle himself.

It's a Russian brand. Who cares where it's made?

Vodak is an undifferentiated spirit.  Premium vodak is a triumph of marketing.

since i think vodak is generally the lowest of the boozes, i don't like spending money on it.  but, on occasion that i buy vodak, i've usually gone with tito's

Tito's is made right in very close to Texas (surrounded, actually).

Do people older than 30 still drink vodka?

I figure that is the age people either learn how to drink or they give it up all together after their last RedBull and Vodka.

Ha! Years ago, probably right after the USSR collapsed, a buddy of mine who had been a Russian language specialist in the USAF and had made some friends at the State Department landed a case of some real, genuine, Russian potato juice. The bottles were 1/2 a liter and we noted that they did not have screw tops - just a piece of foil glued on top. I asked him about it, and he said that in Russia, there is no need for a screw cap because once a bottle is opened, it will be consumed in one sitting. And, yes, this stuff was incredibly powerful.

I currently get Tito's Vodka which is made in Texas, and is dangerously smooth.

I remember years ago there was a scam the Russian mob and some executives at Segrams were involved in. It had to do with importing american vodka to Russia and selling it as Russian vodka. They snuck it into the contry in 50 gallon drums and dyed it using blue food coloring and labeled it as "window cleaner". Dunno how they got the food coloring out on the other end I guess a filter of some sort.

You're paying for the bottle. It has a vodka that's fine for mixing contained within.

OK so a guy starts a boycott because of Russian law. The company he's boycotting actually spent the last decade supporting his cause and isn't based in Russia or owned by the Russian government. Then upon learning this, instead of changing the focus of his boycott, demands that they do more to protest Russian law despite not being farking Russian. Got it.

Vodak makes me throw up, probably because I drink too much too fast and then BAM! it hits me all at once.

Can I have Chimay blue instead? ty.
