Jim from Saint Paul: Mikey1969: After the attack, a WWE official confirmed to TMZ that the fan's interference was not a scheduled part of the show.

And the truly sad thing is that they have to issue a statement like this regarding their "sport".

Name your 3 favorite scripited tv shows ever.

Why? None of them are called "sports". I watch scripted shows for the escape from reality/drama they provide. I watch sorts for the legitimate sporting contest they present. What are you trying to get at here?

Okay.  I watch wrestling because it is fun and is a hobby of mine.

Glad we have that covered.

Rickenbacker: Can't believe he had that much time in the ring to "set up" before moving in.  That's a fine security job, there, Lou.  Uh, or some common South African name.

Bet this guy was behind it...

If was Col. DeBeers, he would've jumped Big E, not Orton, then screamed some crap about apartheid. :/

curtis_e_bare: I was at the show in Edmonton when  Bill Guerin jumped out of the crowd and pushed Eddie Guererro off a ladder in the middle of a match.  Good times, good times.  Now that I'm thinking about it again, it might not have actually been  Bill Guerin , just a redneck in a  Bill Guerin jersey.   Bill Guerin.

IIRC, Guerrero saw him coming, leapt off, and stomped the shiat out of him as he was dragged out underneath the bottom rope by security.  That was pretty good.

WWE doesn't claim to be a "sport" and hasn't in years. They call themselves "sports-entertainment" and have admitted for years that it is a predetermined, scripted television show. The participants are athletic and it is quite a grueling physical endeavor, very few people who watch it think that it is real, except for some kids and some really stupid and/or old people.

tbaughm: skrame: bluorangefyre: The scary part was Orton immediately recovered from being uppercutted in the gonads and was prepared to deliver one country ass-whoopin' to this guy.

ShiningWizard: The security people that dragged him out of there probably saved him from a healthy beating.

tbaughm: At that point, Orton may well have killed the guy without security being there.

I don't follow wrestling, so correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there an article on fark recently mentioning how wrestlers really can't fight at all? (In general of course; I'm sure there are exceptions.) I think the article was about a wrestler taking on a MMA guy or about wrestlers being pitted against one another in unscripted "street" fights.

/Obviously I'm sketchy on details so I may be wrong. I'm not pro- or anti- wraaslin' (or MMA).

There are some wrestlers, such as CM Punk who have formal martial arts training. Orton is ex-military (albeit dishonorably discharged), so he'd probably put a good hurting on most men.

Ortons finishing move should be called the dishonorable discharge.

You were inferring that pro wrestling and its fans claim and consider it a "sport" which is false, and I explained to you how it's false. You are playing the "HURRR wrasslin' is fake and you people are stupid for watching it because it is fake and not real." No shiat, it's "fake". Pro wrestling would be pretty damn boring if it was real. I like my soap opera stories and stupid jokes and over the top characters all presented with an impressive athletic show. It ENTERTAINS me. It's the fact you think you need to point out that's it fictional and snicker at us and try to make fun of people for enjoying a scripted TV show, just because you don't like the show too.

Hospitaller: Um, his attack was of the same style used in the ring for years, it looks painful, especially when sold right (Orton can't be accused of that), but really does little damage (unless Orton just got finished filling a bag).  Not saying its fake, but its probably a wanna be wrestler trying to make a name for himself (herself?).

There was a story a couple days ago about some indy wrestler in the crowd trying to start shiat with Ryback.

My money is on one of these guys:

Way back in the day  I was at a WWF house show. It was when Jimmy Hart was managing Honky Tonk Man and would dress as a woman to mess with Ms. Elizabeth.

Just after the match started (Honky Tonk Man vs. Macho Man) some drunk fan ran out of the crowd and pulled the wig off Jimmy. Jimmy swung around and clocked the dude with his megaphone, then security piled on the guy and hauled him out.

It was pretty funny to see, at least to a 12 year old.

You guys seem to keep assuming that South African wrestling fans are sane and understand this is worked.  Most of them still believe the stuff is real, and assuming this is a legitimate incident, it's possible that the guy modeled his groin strike based on how "the wrestlers do it".  (Although you never know.  I think the WWE has gotten better at blurring the line.)  But this is not the first time this has ever happened.

I've never thought about it before now, but how awesome would it be for Bray Wyatt or the Undertaker to come out and when the lights come up a fan is standing in the ring.

It'd be complete confusion if the Wyatt family suddenly saw a fan side by side with Kane.

If it was Undertaker, Vince may spin it in to his WM30 opponent.
