where's the native mosquito lobby when you need them?

2013-07-31 10:40:05 AM
Have fun with that. We've been dealing with them is DC for 15 years.

We've got those here in Kentucky I believe- hate hate HATE those bloodthirsty little farkers. >_<

2013-07-31 10:45:30 AM
So you have these to contend with during the day and then the night mosquitos come out.

So much This.

Pittsburgh farkers now would be a good time to consider starting a mosquito spraying company. When people around you realize how annoying these farkers are the current ones won't be able to keep up with the business.

We have 'em in North Georgia and they suck.

I was under the impression that they mostly come at night... mostly.

Wife bought a cheesy "no bad chemicals" book recently... Use Vick's Vap-O-Rub as an anti-mosquito.  I typically get bit 3 or 4 times when I go in my back yard for a smoke at night.  Been putting a little dab on my shirt collar at the back of my neck, haven't been bitten all week.  Stuff works.

They've been around Long Island for awhile now.  Real pain in the arse when I go surf fishing at night and leave my windows cracked, somehow at least one of them manages to end up in my car.  BUT although they're aggressive and don't react to being swatted away, no mosquito in the world is immune to the good old SLAP.

You've got to be careful with them. They can bite your leg well, sort of... Off.

Asian Tigers are always out. And hungry.

They are tiny, they suck and they gave me dengue fever last year in Asia.

I hate those with a passion. I once killed one and measured it. 1.2cm long body. Those stickers get huge.

Make sure you get 'em the first time. There's nothing more dangerous than a wounded mosquito.

Relax...they only go after A+ blood.

Those are the ones that give you a knuckle punch before flying off. The giant welts go down in about 5 minutes or so, though. So there's that.

We have them over here in CT, very aggressive and they are tough little farkers...You have to smack them quite a few times before they even get INJURED! In some cases that doesn't even work!

2013-07-31 01:03:01 PM
So... less annoying than black flies?

I lament that people under 40-something probably won't get it. It was one of the funniest RR bits I remember.

Er... I think I'd better come clean with you about this... it's... um it's not an Asian tiger mosquito, I'm afraid. You see, an Asian tiger mosquito is what we doctors call very, very small. So small it could not possibly have made off with a whole leg.

As a farker who lives around PGH, and as a member of the local fire department as fire police, who direct traffic and control crowds at scenes, this will suck on late nights or long calls.  Especially on back woods roads where woods abound...

crap...
