If I yell abuse at someone down the road while they are in their home, I would imagine they will sue the company that made the glass in their window frames for letting my appalling language through.

Also, next time someone bumps in to my car, I am going to sue the makers of the road for letting the accident happen on their product.

It really is ridiculous. A part of me is annoyed that all these brainless morons are now on the internet with no idea how it works and what it is, why it was created, what it was ostensibly for, and someone calls them a name and they ask, nay, demand, that the government completely control it and arrest everyone.

People are farking idiots.

Can we make a new internet, with hookers, and blackjack?

I'm way ahead of you on this one. The intertubes I built last year also have cocaine and scotch. For a modest Paypal transaction I'll even throw in a midget.

Why pay for it, I much prefer my craigslist sluts, fubar tramps, and meatspace slop dumps

If I'm gonna be forced to pay for it, I'll get on backpage and pretend the girl I'm meeting is 18 or over

People on Fark complain to mods constantly about getting picked on. The offending posts get deleted and accounts get banned.

This is no different.

Yet, Twitter still allows idiots to post crap about letting the new royal child wait to choose its gender or how disappointed they were that he wasn't a girl.

Or track you down and demand you pay a fine for making comments on how bad women's soccer is if you live in Europe.

See I never get that. I've been smacked around with the moderator mjolnir before. I ask for what and take my punishment because hey, if I crossed a line..I crossed a line.

Take your beatings and move on. It's not like we really miss you anyway.

But do the police get called and people taken away and arrested? In the UK that is common, not for "threats" like "I'm gonna rape you", but just for putting someone down:

British police have arrested a teenager suspected of sending an offensive Twitter message to British Olympic diver Tom Daley.
Officers detained a 17-year-old man at a guest house in "the Weymouth area" of the county of Dorset in the early hours of Tuesday morning, they said.
The unnamed teenager was questioned on "suspicion of malicious communications," a police spokeswoman told CNN, and later issued with a harassment warning.

The offensive message?
"@TomDaley1994 you let your dad down i hope you know that,"
Daley's father died in May 2011 after a long battle with brain cancer.

*GASP*
LOCK HIM UP FOR LIFE!!!!

No. Do you believe the use of the term originates from the comparison to slimy people living under bridges or the mispronunciation of trawl?

If it's a verb, the mispronunciation of 'Trawl' (to fish by dragging chum).

Except for the part where Fark isn't a government with the power of laws behind them. But you're right, excepting that one insignificant detail, it's exactly the same.

Trawling is fishing with a big trawling net, isn't it? Using chum is chumming.

I reckon it can be both, casting a wide net and dragging it across the internet seeing who you snag in your net of malice is perfectly cromulent description of what we now call trolling. On the other hand trolls are annoying little green bastards, which also describes all internet trolls.

Let's not forget "Trolling" , defined as follows:

"Trolling is a method of fishing where one or more fishing lines, baited with lures or bait fish, are drawn through the water. This may be behind a moving boat, or by slowly winding the line in when fishing from a static position, or even sweeping the line from side-to-side, e.g. when fishing from a jetty. Trolling is used to catch pelagic fish such as salmon, mackerel and kingfish.

Trolling can be phonetically confused with trawling, a different method of fishing where a net (trawl) is drawn through the water instead of lines. Trolling is used both for recreational and commercial fishing whereas trawling is used mainly for commercial fishing."

This description is very appropriate for internet trolling, as the practice involves casting many lines baited with things likely to get a bite from various people.

I lost count of the number of Twitter accounts I've created. Hell, I forget half of them exist until I get the spam emails from Twitter, but they all come to the same gmail address since all you have to do is add "+TwitterUN" to your email address and Twitter recognizes it as something different. You could go on for ages with variations of "youremail+Twitter1[nospam-﹫-backwards]liamg*com", and it takes maybe a minute to set up IF you even bother with verifying an email address (which isn't required).
