The only people who really care about that are losers who don't like the new movies.

I'm an old school fan. I remember watching TNG when it premiered with my dad. I liked most of the previous Treks, Voyager aside. (Gods, but I hated Voyager.) Generations was trash, but it had promise. Nemesis, First Contact and Insurrection were all ok, First Contact being the best of the Next Gen movies.

Abrams' Trek (I haven't seen Into Darkness.) was a lot of fun. Yes, the characters were different, but the world they lived in was different, too. Nero had gone back already and changed things. Lens flare? So what?

Wow...I got rant-y. I'm gonna cut myself off now.

I read that Cho discussed this issue with Takei, who was cool with it and said "You'll represent all Asians. Show those white devils."

Kumar was played by Kal Penn, not John Cho.  He was Indian-American.  So, yeah, the wrong nationality.  Depending on what part of Indian he's from, probably even the wrong race (India is where multiple racial groups come together).

The second graphic shows Shatner to be 5' 10" - I assume that's counting the 3" lifts in his boots.

/presumably the same shoemaker helped out the "5 foot 11" James Doohan

Is it Tahlequah, OK and he's Cherokee?

Look how goddamned babyfaced Quinto's Spock looks next to Nimoy's despite a year of age difference. Actors aren't allowed to look interesting anymore because Hollywood's busy chasing youth.

No one ever biatches about Brit Patrick Stewart playing Frenchman Jean-Luc Picard; why should it matter just for Asians but not for Caucasians?

Also rumor has it William Shatner is actually Canadian (borne at least)!

you think Insurrection and Nemesis were "ok".  your opinion can be safely discounted.

I'll give you Nemesis (Save Tom Hardy.), but Insurrection was a feature legnth episode of the series. Not a great movie, I'll grant, but decent enough for me to watch on a dull Saturday afternoon.

nah, Insurrection was worse by far.  Nemesis had Tom Hardy at least as you said.

Missing from the info graphic:

Both James Doohan and Simon Pegg are missing bits of their fingers
Doohan of course from D-Day
Pegg well lets say there was a goat, a bottle of whiskey, and three little person transvestites involved
/I may be making this up

I was blissfully enjoying my Star Trek one sunny afternoon, Season 5 Episode 12 entitled  Violations - and what an apt title it became for my world was violated that day with lies.  Keiko O'Brian, the supposed Japanese native, mispronounce a common Japanese world for Grandmother.  I couldn't believe my ears, I rewinded my VHS a dozen times in hopes it might somehow be an error, but I wasn't so lucky.  I searched the internets after that and discovered the actress who plays Keiko issn't even Japanese.

Well, I was outraged as you can imagine.  I mailed my tape of Violations to  with "LIAR!" written in magic marker to George Lucas in protest, burned the rest of my tapes, and haven't watched a Star Trek since.  The series is dead to me.

Joke's on you: they hired a linguist to do a progression of the Japanese language over 4 centuries to determine what the pronunciation would be for a character of Japanese ancestry.  You'll also note that people of French heritage spoke with a distinct accent of someone who was classically trained in English theater.
