Weiner must have seriously pissed off someone really big in order to get this non-stop Howard Deaning in the press.

It's not Weiner that pissed somebody off somebody really big - it's Hillary Clinton - and she had lunch with Mr. Big yesterday.

Morgan shouldn't have apologized.  Weiner's campaign is going down in flames and only a Hail Mary pass could save it.  I think a lot of NYC would buy into a campaign willing to tell it how it is and spew unadulterated stream-of-consciousness outrage.  They could completely turn the story around from Weiner being the guy who lied about sexting to Weiner being the guy who isn't going to sugar coat anything or play politics, he's just going to tell it like it is and do what needs to be done.

They could be like the 'rent is too damn high' guy but with actual governance bona fides.

That may have been for her own legal protection, rather than for the campaign. I'm not a lawyer, but calling a non-public figure a "slutbag" in public media might qualify as defamation in some places.

If what Morgan is saying is true, then yep.

Pretty underhanded but almost certainly a very profitable decision. Spend four weeks interning for a sleazy politician then quit and write a tell-all after his campaign crashes and burns.

2013-07-31 03:32:30 AM
"She sucked. She like wasn't good at setting up events. She was clearly there because she wanted to be seen. Like it was, like, terrible and I had to like - she would like, she would just not show up for work," said Morgan.

That is some painfully offensive language. Much more so than the curse words she used. Weiner seems to have surrounded himself with twats.

You don't know New York politics very well. At all.

This is where the state assembly speaker's chief lawyer got probation for sexual misconduct after plea bargaining down from a rape charge, with many strings pulled on his behalf - and not only did the speaker get the taxpayers to cover the settlement with the victim, the rapey guy bounced right into a lobbying gig and now he's a principal at one of the biggest lobbying firms in Albany.

Which means he maintained his connections at top levels of state government all along.

And the victim? She's the one who has no shot at government work, because she talked.

The bottom line in New York is that you can screw up over and over, you can be corrupt, you can even sexually assault somebody...and you'll still land on your feet, and then some if you're in the good graces of the right people. Long as you don't call out the bosses you're golden.

Ahhh.  The nuts and sluts defense.  I was waiting for that.  It's about time these bimbo eruptions got taken care of.

/Funny observation that the object of the attack said the only reason women joined the Weiner campaign was to get closer to Huma and Hillary.
//Even funnier is the outrage that Huma is being compared to Hillary for standing by her man in anticipation of a future payout.  After all, Hillary was elected First Lady, Senator and appointed to Secretary of State and it had nothing to do with ignoring Bill's infidelities as Arkansas governor.

Why is political news in the US such a joke? Every big story (outside of tragedies and disasters) seems so trivial (and they'll even turn that stuff into a bunch of trivial bullshiat). Who cares who this politician schmuck sexted or sent dick pics to, how about his policies? He's trying to be mayor of the biggest city in the US and all anyone cares about is his sex life. It's funny but it doesn't matter.

/I guess it's a story since it's funny but I don't even watch TV news and I've heard way too much about this guy's dick.

Gillibrand
Preet Bharara - if you don't know this guy's name already, you will. This is the guy who actually busts crooks while Eliot Spitzer waves his dick around.

Someone who jerks off 5 times a day to 1 of his dozen online love kittens is accountable to the electorate.  Now maybe you want to vote for him and maybe you don't.  Vote your conscious but don't tell me what to do.

Regardless it doesn't argue that I'm wrong.  Tony Wiener's biggest sin is that he pissed off Bill by comparing his liason's to Bill's own sexcapades which pissed off Hillary because it tarnishes her image before her next run and as a consequence we can expect a divorce order from Huma by this time next year.

How does any election in NYC (or an election in any major/important city) matter to the GOP? I fail to see how this helps them nationally or affects the overall liberal and Democratic nature of NYC. The GOP is only supported in rural areas and the suburbs, NYC or NY are irrelevant to their success.

I already gave the reason above: someone that is willing to toss his marriage for his own addiction can't (in my mind) be trusted with responsibility.  You obviously think differently and I obviously think most American's don't agree with you.

I'm kind of torn about whether I want to see him and his cronies go down now or sit back and watch them make a joke out of the Clintons.  I'm thinking it best if he drags this out as long as possible.  Maybe Bill will kick his ass in a drunken stupor.  Now that would be just awesome.

I don't see how what he did was any worse than Bill Clinton's run as governor and president, and Clinton was great at his job. It doesn't matter what most Americans think, what matters is someones ability to run a government, and I've yet to see a connection with infidelity and governance. I'm saying his actual policies should be considered more important than some sexts.

Clinton's lying was worse, and what he did was worse than the initial sexting.
The fact the weiner got caught and did it again, however makes the whole thing worse.  It shows a profound lack of judgement and the weakenss of being blinded by his own desires.  Someone with that kind of charater flaw shouldn't be trusted with power.

Pretty obvious inside job. She was there to try to get something going on with Weiner, but had to settle with pushing boring staffing gossip.

Really all a massive waste of time, that campaign is going nowhere anyway. Which actually sort of explains the lameness of her revelations, the clock was running out so she had to get something on paper before the whole thing implodes.

No I'm not, I'm saying I don't see the link between infidelity and governance, especially since Clinton was a pretty good president with the same problems. I'm saying his policies and political view points are much more pertinent than his sexts. I'm attacking the media because I know more about his dick than his actual views on running a city.

2013-07-31 08:05:58 AM
Also as mentioned by others in numerous posts: he got caught once and went right back to it.  Here is someone that almost lost everything because of his addiction and didn't learn a damn thing.  That smells like leadership to me.

The worst part is what you didn't see in the press the first go round.  Tony and his buddies went out of their way to smear everyone that was even tangentially involved with discussing the first time he got caught.  I'm not talking about Breitbart either.  It was small game that dared to even comment the first time.  fark him.

Infidelity isn't the issue.  Very few peopel who would have voted for him look at this from a puritanical view of a relationship outisde his marriage as the problem.

It is the lying to get what they want, and the lying to cover up what they did.  If you can't see a problem with giving a person who does that lots of power then I give up.

I won't even try to guess what your age or your life experience is.  When several random 20 year olds say that they are among many other random 20 year olds that a married man is whacking to 5 times a day on the phone to them it raises alarm bells.  Regardless of what you or I do in the privacy of our own home I'm going out on a limb here to assume that you don't take it to that extreme.

I've known people that are addicted and I've seen what they do.  They lie, they hide things, they steal, they hurt people close to them and they lash out when cornered.  I don't need to wait for it to all play out because I've seen it play out a few times before.  He can't keep it together long enough to run the campaign how the hell can he run NYC?

I don't know. He's only confessed to sexting and dirty pictures.

On the spectrum of infidelity - is that more or less acceptable than hiking the metaphorical Appalachian trail? Forcing your mistress to get an abortion? Actually having sex?

Another sexting scandal wouldn't hurt him. If he turns out to be far more unfaithful than online infidelity then you'd have a great blackmailing story and it wouldn't take much convincing.

I wish instead of apologizing, she'd just owned it and said, "Listen, I didn't intend for what I said to be public, but this girl is exactly what I called her, and I stand by it."

That, at least, would show some integrity. And I think if she spun that correctly, she could make quite a career for herself as being outspoken and no-nonsense.

But let's be honest -- the ONLY reason this is news is because it's yet another sign the Weiner campaign is in a nosedive.

Why petty? Put yourself in a hiring managers position. You have two candidates with equal qualifications, and neither one sexy enough to fark up the office politics. But one of them once talked in the press about her former employer. Which one would YOU hire? I wouldn't get near her as an employee for me once I saw that - it shows she has extremely poor judgment, and I only hire people with common sense and initiative.

I don't know.

She'll write a book and do a few interviews as part of her contract to sell copies of said book.

She will interview well enough to land a contract on a network talking politics and will become the poster child for a woman's rights cause. Eventually this will turn into lobbying.

He left office for it the first time he was caught, and when he ran for office again, he decided to unwrap his junk for his new round of sexting. The guy lacks discretion and judgement. That's what I was thinking.  Pretty much anyone giving interviewing advice says one of the worst things you can do is to trash your old employer, and she just did that in a very public way.  I have to imagine political campaigns, where controlling the message and PR trump all, would be particularly sensitive to taking someone on who has a history of publicly airing grievances.

Q bomb, short for 'Quadium Bomb', invented by Dr. Kokintz.  Captured, with its inventor, by the Duchy of Grand Fenwick when they defeated the United States.  See 'The Mouse That Roared'.

EyeballKid: Walker: Well she's certainly better looking than Sydney Leathers, Weiner's sexting partner:

THAT'S NOT YOUR SEXTING PARTNER, THAT'S A MAN BABY!

I think that may be photographed proof that Anthony Weiner does have some sort of psychological problem.

I'll bet she looks a lot better in her Facebook photos.

Gulper Eel: liam76: I am not saying being so weak willed when it comes to sex means you will automatically be bad at a position of power, it is just a huge checkmark against you.

You know what my problem with Bill messing around with Monica was?

It was such a cheesy middle-manager-diddling-the-intern thing to do. Farking hell, he's the leader of the free world, if he's getting some strange I want him going all Derek Jeter through the finest women on earth.

The finest DISCREET women on earth. Make me proud if you're gonna be a presidential horndog.

FWIW - one of my good friends worked for the AP in DC.  He has actually met Monica Lewinsky.  He said she had some crazy aura about her that made you instantly horny.

Sid Vicious' Corpse: I'll bet she looks a lot better in her Facebook photos.

She'd have to. I think major rigor mortis or decomposition would be needed for her to look a lot worse.

This is one of the most madcap, irrelevant-posting, balls-out LUNATIC threads I've seen in this tab in awhile (that doesn't involve guns...)

Well done and please do not stop now!

Close2TheEdge: There is absolutely no such thing as "off the record."  Especially in NY politics.

What's more, "off the record" are not magic words. You can't just say, "This is off the record, but I once killed a man in Reno just to watch him die," then expect a reporter to keep your secret.

If the reporter says they'll keep something off the record, and they're trustworthy, you have a fair expectation that what you've said under that agreement may well be kept under wraps.

But any sentence that begins "this is off the record, but..." is not off the record, and anyone who thinks it will be is an idiot.
