Not unexpected.

This is why I refuse to check bags. I travel with allowable carry-on sizes and hand wash -- or buy new -- while on the road. Thanks Rick Steves for teaching me how to pack 30 years ago.

You know who is impressive with lost bags? Amtrak

Amtrak lost my bags somewhere between Emeryville CA, and Philadelphia... The very next day at 1pm Amtrak called and asked if I would be home in the next hour because they found my bags and sending them to my house in a taxi.. 30 minutes later my luggage arrived..

hasty ambush: The SFO employee is union so it is all cool

I know, those unions are so corrupt!

Meanwhile on planet Earth:

"A United Airlines employee and his wife are accused of stealing luggage of passengers diverted by the Asiana crash at the San Francisco International Airport. Prosecutors in San Mateo County said Sean Sharif Crudup, 44, and a customer service representative at United, and his wife Raychas Elizabeth Thomas, 32, both of Richmond, were charged with grand theft and burglary."

I lost a iPod nano in my baggage going through heathrow. Bags were supposed to show up at Newark but I went through customs with a backpack and a laptop bag. They didn't think it was weird I had been gone 7 months with that little amount of clothing apparently. The bags showed up in shiatty condition about 4 days later sans ipod (only thing in the bags worth more than a used shirt).

Submittard: He didn't steal the Asiana victims' luggage. That shiat was all broken and scorched up, and probably covered in blood. Nobody would've taken that as a return, use your noggin. He stole luggage from the planes delayed because of the Asiana crash. This was therefore a victimless crime, because he wasn't preying on victims.

Hive of scum and villainy, that airport. I once left my cell phone in a rental car cup holder when I returned it to SFO. I realized it before the shuttle was even halfway to the terminal and called the front desk on a coworker's phone. They told me flat out they could not and would not retrieve the phone for me. They wouldn't even call the employees who were cleaning the car that very minute to see if it was still there. When I started biatching they said "fine, we'll call and ask". Then said "nope" no one has seen your phone, goodbye. Screw you, Alamo.

So they have to drop what they are doing (which is probably something meaningful like processing a rental for a competent customer such as myself) to go look for his phone that he thinks he may have left in the car, when he probably left it on the sink of whatever bathroom he just finished snorting coke in. Yeah. I'd have hung up on him too. Sorry dope-heads.

I flew AirTran from BWI to Boston in 2002, just months after 9/11. The TSA thought our family of four flying one-way was suspicious, I guess, so they hand-searched our bags in front of us. Lo and behold, my bag, containing my PlayStation and some games, didn't make it to Boston. Once it was shipped back to my home in California, sure enough, my PlayStation was stolen.

And then I was groped in Denver back when they had those air puffer machines. I was given no real explanation as to why I set off the machine.

Really? So we should expect to do business with someone and pay for the service and at the some time be hyper vigilant that we make no mistakes at all with anything as we need to realize that no only the outside world BUT they themselves will be likely to ripe us off? If they have no interest in hiring competent and honest staff, I would have no interest in doing business with them. Capitalism how does it work?

Reminds me of back in the 90s when I accidentally left my brand new (and ridiculously expensive) digital camera on a plane. I realized it was missing as soon as I got home. Called and was told that nothing had been found near my seat. farkers. Guess who's got two thumbs and never flew US Air again. This guy!
