Right. Because she has a shot in hell.

Obama as president put that silly notion to rest, they don't need dig any further.

The Congressional Black Caucus has next to zero power with the current administration.

Maybe they just desperately want her out of Congress, otherwise I can't imagine wanting to look like utter fools for even making such a suggestion.

It is actually brilliant if it would help republicans understand how others feel when they give their nut jobs positions of power. Of course that would require empathy, which is not a trait we've come to associate with the GOP

Nonsense

/just look how much time they spend feeling sorry for themselves

"Recommend for" is not the same as "promote to", but what's the difference when you're trolling?

Besides, it's DHS. It needs to be shrunk so small you could drown it in a bathtub.

So you're saying that she hasn't been promoted, then?

I'm fairly confident they are dead serious about it.

No, but just suggesting her for the job calls their intelligence into question, don't you think?

LasersHurt: The CBC is all liberals? A group's nomination is the same as actually giving the position?

This really is the best the GOP has got.  Somebody nominated a loony for a high position, that makes GWB, Rick Perry, Mitch McConnell, Eric Cantor, John Boehner, Sarah Palin, Rick Scott, Scott Walker, John Kasich, Rick Snyder, Michelle Bachmann, and Paul Ryan OK.

2013-07-30 10:41:09 AM
"Representative Jackson Lee would serve as an effective DHS Secretary because she understands the importance of increasing border security and maintaining homeland security," the nomination letter reads.

Jesus, that's the kind of thing you read in 5th grade essays.  "Daniel Boone was a great frontiersman because he understood alot about the frontier."  Seriously, CBC?

Jackson Lee currently holds the post of Ranking Member of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security, a position that the CBC says she "stands as a strong and honest 'voice of reason.'"

[Rich] Cooper responded to this line of the letter, saying, "I have heard Rep. Jackson Lee described by many people as many things, but the words "voice of reason" have never been among those descriptions" and that "wildcard" may be a better way to describe the congresswoman.

That's putting it mildly.

mrshowrules: How is she a nutjob?  Honest question.

You mean like when she asked someone at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory if the Mars rover would be able to send back pictures of the American flag that was put there from when the astronauts landed? Or when she said hurricane names were "too white"? Or any number of examples of idiocy and lunacy that will come up from any Google search? She's an absolute hoot.

An unaccountable cabinet department whose mission is to be a giant unnecessary expensive pain in the ass?

She'd be perfect to run it.

There's also a chance a number of terrorists would die laughing upon hearing the news.

What exactly makes her a "nutjob"? What has she said or done that is so crazy?

2013-07-30 11:05:26 AM

mrshowrules: How is she a nutjob?  Honest question.

Off the top of my head:

Wanted to sell arms to Hugo Chavez
Complained on the house floor about hurricane names being "too white" (suggested Hurricane Keisha, among others)
Spoke on the House floor praising the victory in Vietnam an the two Vietnams side by side, working together
Asked JPL if the Mars Rover would show the US flag astronauts planted there
Referred to Europe as a country
Said repealing the Health Care Act would be a violation of the 5th Amendment
"I am a queen, and I demand to be treated like a queen."
"I stand here as a freed slave"
"Enron was a good corporate citizen"

I'm sure there are lots more.

2013-07-30 11:05:48 AM
Given that she endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2008 and as of 2005 was opposed to a guest worker program as part of immigration reform, I doubt that Rep. Lee would be considered for DHS. I could be wrong of course.

Yes, liberals put forward insane, stupid, contemptible people.

It's the current RATE with which the GOP does it that is so troublesome.

Black, female, Democratic.

My bar is set pretty high for outrage. We already sell arms to Israel and the Saudis, Lots of people are upset about HCR in all directions. The European Union is allegedly "one economic unit," and she's indebted to corporate interests in metro-Houston like Chevron. This is more garden variety derp than anything to get my blood boiling. Can you get me something about how bad gays, brown people, and Islam are sending this country to hell and Alaska should secede from the U.S? Any protesting of the Ground Zero mosque or Sharia law taking over the country? Vaccines and autism Bachmann style? I'm jaded, I suppose. I need something stronger to get my fix.

IDK, I get the sense she would be a little less 'let's spy on US citizens and grope them at airports'.

WAY less than Bachmann actually GETTING a position on the Intelligence Committee.

Okay, I have to break down and finally ask WTF is a "Fark Liberal?" How are they qualitatively different from regular liberals?

I get that the "Fark Independent" thing actually has meaning, a mocking term springing from the constant, "I'm an independent, but [Republican talking point]" crap we've had here in the past. A Fark Independent is different from an actual independently inclined person.

So can anyone tell me how a Fark Liberal is different from an actual liberal, or is this just another weird case of "NO U!!!1" that doesn't make any farking sense whatsoever, but sounds insulting so it gets repeated a lot?

Seriously. I want to know. I want to "get it." Can anyone help me out here?

/sorry to get meta
//please resume your regularly scheduled politrolling

LOL. That is the biggest oversimplification of why she is considered a nut job I've seen since the "they hate Palin because she's a strong woman" bullshiat.

Do you REALLY have no knowledge of her background in bat shiat insanity?
