Advertising food during a day in Ramadan in a Muslim country is almost American in its level of cruel capitalistic genius.

FTA: Coca Cola and Pepsi are among the biggest spenders in the Middle East during the month...

Interesting. Maybe the Middle East will mellow out a bit if they're all overweight and diabetic.

I had an employee who was Muslim and observed Ramadan.  It was an outdoor job in New Orleans.  When daylight savings time got moved back, it really messed with him. We used to let him take a longer break after sunset.  Felt bad for the guy.

I worked in Kuwait for a couple years and I remember seeing posters to the effect of, "During this most high and holy celebration of Eid, save big on back to school items!" and it made me happy to realize that Americans aren't the only ones willing to completely sell out their religion to save a few bucks.

Talking to my wife, whenever I suddenly realize some "exotic custom" is just the same as we do, I smile to realize people are the same the world over.
