Pro tip if you just got a job on the bridge on the new Starship Enterprise: wear some sunglasses. Also, you're probably gonna die.

Yes because God forbid anyone does anything to offend someone, people are so reasonable about these sort of things after all.

Please, people have been trying to make money off of the tragedy of 9/11/2001 since 9/12/2001.

Oh shut the fark up, Subby. Shouldn't you be hiding under your coffee table in case someone with a terrifying Rolling Stone magazine comes near you?

9/12!

Are 9/11 and London and San Francisco related in some way that I'm unaware of? Or is it just insensitive to ever talk about terrorism again because 9/11?

Pretty much this. Why don't we just not use airplanes that day because its hard for people to see planes on that day. It's just a freaking movie with lens flare!

The operative word here is "12th". Get over it already. I don't mean forget about it but stop getting offended by any piece of pop culture that reminds you of it.

Although in the last couple weeks the White House got blown the fark up twice at the movies so that's progress.

THIS. Thank you. I was sitting here trying to formulate the wording explaining to subby that he is a pants-wetting, handwringing nincompoop but you had already handled it.

I was offended, OFFENDED, by the fact my cousin got married on 9/11/2010, the 9th anniversary.  I wanted to spend the entire day in mourning (for the 10th time).

Hey all you people should shut up! 9/11 ruined my birthday and every birthday after it. Just kidding I turned 27 that day birthdays don't really mean anything after you turn 17.

/on a side note are the new star trek movies any good? I haven't seen either of them

Is there is going to be a 9/11 Anniversary every year? Should I get used to it.?

If you ignore the online nerdrage, I think you'll find that they are well made movies that pay homage to Star Trek while going their own way. I enjoyed both movies and can't wait to add the second one to my collection.

You'll note that the release date is a Tuesday, which is standard practice for movie/music releases. However, it is also standard practice for idiots to make a big deal out of moronic non-issues, so keep it up.

Wow! This is almost as bad as the time when Michael Bay's stink-bomb Pearl Harbor was released on VHS three days before the 60th anniversary of the actual event!

Or when "Disaster Movie" was released 10 days after the five-year anniversary of the Indian Ocean tsunami!

Or when "Titanic" was released on video 4 1/2 months after the 86th anniversary of the actual Titanic sinking!

So insensitive!!

/seriously, give me a f***ing break.

I'm still mad at the second Lord of the Rings movie. 'The Two Towers' was just insensitive, and you know they only called it that to capitalize on 9/11. Other it would have been called Hobbits and Horses and Gollum, Oh, My!

2013-07-29 02:42:53 PM
Or when "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" was released on Blu-ray less than 4 months after the 61st anniversary of when that poor alien was killed when he crashed his spaceship in Roswell, New Mexico.

Well, I think both London and San Francisco have fully recovered from 9/11.

I know it's snark, but let's be fair. Zod had pretty much farked up a good part of Metropolis by the time Supes showed up.

Now, Smallville? Eh, maybe...

I'm mad that planes are allowed to fly on 9/11. I'm mad that people can visit/live/work in tall buildings on 9/11. I'm mad that they don't remove all movies, TV shows, and books about 9/11 from the store shelves on 9/11. I'm still mad that anyone is allowed to move, breathe or speak on 9/11. I'm mad they haven't changed the national emergency number to something other than 911, or that people are allowed to use it on 9/11. I'm mad that 9/11 happened on 9/11, and is wildly inconsiderate of the 9/11 survivors and mourners who would later be affected by 9/11. The very fact we don't now count "6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13..." is a travesty the likes of which the whole entire universe has ever known!

2013-07-29 02:55:55 PM
And we'll never film another car chase for fear of the 40,000 deaths annually from car accidents.  And Sharknado is a combination of atrocities to victims of either tornadoes or shark attacks.  And speaking of Oscar worthy ventures, we need to pull all of Marlon Brando's movies off the shelves and out of our minds.  He's dead!

Yeah but Superman could have led Zod in to the desert or the moon or something but I guess the fights would be boring,

The terrorist attacks on Sept 11th 2001 served its purpose. The people who have benefited from it have already have, and the people who haven't well let's just say the losses will continue until morality improves.

By that point, Zod was pretty much in "Kill All Humans" mode (and was likely already there while using the World Engine). Plus, once he overcame the effects of Earth's atmosphere, Zod was as strong as Superman, if not stronger. A small scene where Superman tried (futilely) to get him away could only help, I suppose, but the inference by that point is the shiat'shiat the fan - take him down or take him out now, or risk deaths that could have easily been prevented by keeping his attention.

Having just seen this (second time), I was watching for the "Superman inflicted damage".

There's a case to be made for the very ending, but pretty much all the damage done in Smallville was ultimately caused by the US Military, and then by Zod's soldiers trying to  smackdown Supes. The first half of the Metropolis battle took place in the rubble already there from the World Engine.

Superman wasn't in a position to lead anyone anywhere. Zod's goal wasn't to kill Superman, it was to kill as many humans as possible.

Oh come on, subby, we're at the 13 year mark. If they haven't gotten to acceptance yet, virtually any joke is going to offend them..

You know how you get the best revenge on a terrorist from a nation that whips their populace into shape? By enjoying the freedoms they're jealous of. And, in fark's case, that's the freedom to be a callous sagging mess of american fat and muscle with a big mouth.
