My favorite theory on this (amusing not believable) was that it was the driver of JFKs own car that shot the fatal bullet.

"Mortal Error: The Shot That Killed JFK is a 1992 non-fiction book by Bonar Menninger describing a theory by sharpshooter, gunsmith and ballistics expert Howard Donahue that a Secret Service agent accidentally fired the shot that actually killed President John F. Kennedy.

In 1995 Hickey sued St. Martin's Press over the claims made in Mortal Error.[5][6] The suit was eventually dismissed in 1997 on the grounds that Hickey had waited too long after the book's initial publication to file against the publisher.[7] Hickey later settled with St Martin's Press in 1998 on undisclosed terms.[8]"

JFK: The Smoking Gun is a television documentary based on the work of retired Australian police Detective Colin McLaren, who spent four years combing through evidence from Kennedy's death on November 22, 1963.

He should have just bought this book that was published 21 years ago. It would have saved him a lot of effort.

The best one is that he was still moving when he got to the hospital and the CCIA/Secret Service kicked the doctors out of the room, and when the doctors came back he was dead.

Spock did it.

It was one of Gene Roddenberry's dream plots for Star Trek, one he kept pushing over and over again.  According to Bob Justman, GR would constantly bring it up at any meeting where they discussed potential plots...fortunately anyone who had any pull shot it down.

"Kirk and the crew go back in time, and Kirk believes saving JFK will be the correct choice.  He fails at the last minute, only to see Spock on the grassy knoll as the assassin.  Spock knows in order to keep the timeline on course JFK has to die, and he ensures history plays out properly."

I remember reading that book when it came out. It's an interesting theory and I believe the one thing that could be used to disprove it, spectrographic analysis of the bullet fragments in Kennedy's head, has never been released. The AR-15 used by Hickey had a different type of ammo from the weapon Oswald used.

Donahue was an experienced man when it came to ballistics and had testified in court cases before the assassination because of his knowledge. It frustrated him that the one piece of evidence that could prove or disprove his theory hadn't been released.
