What is with our obsession with giving a shiat how others perceive us?  Do other countries go to great length to make sure when Americans visit their country it doesn't come off as "too pro UK" or "too pro Japan" ... For god sakes man.. What happened to us?

"I really believe that the way America will look best, the way we can really do best, is to not be Americans so vigilantly and so vehemently," Shulan said.

Eventually, chief curator Jan Ramirez proposed a compromise, Greenspan writes. The Franklin shot was minimized in favor of three different photos via three different angles of the flag-raising scene.

So they almost only had 1 photo instead of 3, and this would have been exclusion? I'm confused.

In any case, I'm outraged at what some claim might maybe have happened, sort of.

2013-07-29 11:50:14 AM
We ought to tear down any displays of the flag-raising on Iwo Jima from public view while we're at it.  Jingoism in all its forms is ugly and hateful.

2013-07-29 11:51:44 AM
Shulan told The Post he didn't know that the way Greenspan described the discussion about the photographs "is the way that I would have."

You don't say?

Well, if it's in the NY Post, I'm sure that's exactly the way it went down.

People who run museums still think that they are the ultimate arbiters of history.

2013-07-29 11:52:55 AM
Early on, it was decided that no human remains or photos of body parts be included in the museum.

Um, good call.

2013-07-29 11:53:32 AM
Regardless of what you think about flag-waving from the perspective of 2013, the fact is it perfectly captured the mood of the fall of 2001, and for that reason is an important historic artifact.  It absolutely has to be included in the museum.

This photos seems appropriate for a Ground Zero museum, but many "real Americans" seem to express their patriotism with all the emotional maturity of a 13-year-old girl at a Justin Bieber concert.

We got it the first time.  You're so pleased that, in your mind, the chickens came home to roost, that you just had to sodomize the whole flock'a'chickens until they squirted out bloody eggs for you feast upon. Choke on the feathers, you dick.

We could be like the japanese and follow what they did with their atomic bomb museum.
They made theirs entirely anti-american, saying it was unprovoked genocide and cruel beyond all humanity without need or warning. And the japanese were victims and didn't deserve it.

Nuh uh. How dare we even consider the possibility of a picture of Americans, raising an American flag on American soil after an attack on Americans be included in an American museum about that attack on America.  The next thing you know they'll be letting actual Americans in the museum! How dare they!

I have to get some fresh air now, all this pro-America bullshiat on American soil is making my blood boil.

Yeah, that's pretty annoying. Like when the news guys are all butthurt about two planes that ALMOST COLLIDED when they totally didn't even touch.

It's a non-issue, right?

Isn't it iconic, don't you think... ITS LIKE TERROORRRRRISM on a September day, its a free RIIIIIIIIDe cause you hijacked the plane, its some good ADVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE to learn to land a plane, but who would have thought, sand n1gg33333333333333rs.

soupafi: I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

I felt like that at the Traverse City Cherry Festival a couple years ago. Someone hauled in a red, white and blue trailer that held a huge hunk of twisted black steel that was allegedly part of the Twin Towers. It had all the Iwo Jima / Crying Eagle / John Wayne imagery you would imagine such a thing would have, and the rubes positively swarmed the thing, posing for cellphone photos next to it in their idiot hats and their  "America, F#ck Yeah!" t-shirts. Moments like that it's just goddamn embarrassing to be an American.

2013-07-29 12:06:17 PM
The museum tested the outside of the composite and found it negative for DNA. But they couldn't test inside it without the risk of destroying it. Eventually, despite the uncertainty and over the objections of some 9/11 family members, the piece was included.

WTF? Look can we all, Ameritards and traitors, Muslim-slaying crusaders and crypto-French alike, can we all agree that there is a limit to the waving of the bloody shirt of 9/11?

www.how-to-do-a.net

No? No? Really? Ok. No harm done. Ok. Backing away now.

LulZ,

Mr. USA was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye
He waited his whole damn morning to take that flight
And as the plane crashed into the towers he thought
"Well isn't this terrorism?..."
And isn't it iconic... don't you think

You are aggressive assholes and the rest of the world does indeed believe you suck.  You should tone it down and stop being such a bunch of killers, from your President, your military, your NRA, your death penalty, right down to the lunatic with the guns at college.

To be an american means you have to buy into a whole bunch of patriotic bullshiat to try and pretend that you aren't the big assholes you really are.  No wonder so many of you are mentally ill.

You can wave your little flag around all you like but the rest of the planet ain't buying it.

I'm drinking in the irony of this statement.

So where are the 9/11 truthers? FARK typically has them in droves. They smell fear.

But Saddam used weapons of mass destruction when he perpetrated 9/11.  I hear that afterwords he held a party with punch and yellow cake.  Or something like that.
