(Fox News)   A hacker named Barnaby Jack, found pace-makers easy to crack. He was scheduled to speak, so the timing it reeks. Since it looks like he might have been whacked   (foxnews.com) divider line 17

I bet he knew how to hack a 2013 Mercedes C250 coupe and make it go real fast and "crash into a tree".

It is kind of scary to think about what forces may be out there operating under the umbra of our ginormous national security apparatus. Ever wonder who the NSA (or whatever acronym we have never heard of which runs the show) subcontracts its dirty work out to? Cartels? Mid-Easterners? Who the hell knows because it's all secret.

George Washington was dead nuts on when he called out two things as what would be the downfall of this nation: foreign entanglements and the two-party system.

Met Barnaby at IOActive's booth at Black Hat a year or two ago. Sad, suspicious, and ultimately a tragic loss for all of us because he was trying to convince (somewhat forcefully, by exposing vulnerabilities) the medical technology companies to cryptographically sign their code and support restrictions on medical device firmware updates that would require signed code.

Summer Glau's Love Slave: I didn't know there was a repeat tag.

/I'm gonna re-submit this story every day, so's we can get a threepeat.

We've had it for a couple of years now, but it's admin use only & then we only use it when we feel it's a headline that's too good to be redlit.

Triumph: How long do we have to wait to find out how this guy died? And wasn't he good friends with John McAfee? That's a bad sign.

I believe another article said the coroner's report will take ~ 1 month.

Why do we have a "repeat" tag? Is something gained by regurgitating the same information? "Followup" I understand; more information, further developments. But this says nothing new at all.

He hacked ATMs. He was gonna tell about hacking pacemakers. He's dead. People figure he was whacked. We got it.

I'll take that bet.  I'm going with drug overdose.

Doubtful. His interest in hacking medical devices was partially sparked because he was using one.

Pumpernickel bread: CIA probably already knows about the pacemaker trick and wanted him to shut up about it lest potential targets with pacemakers become wise.

Well, mission accomplished.  Nobody will ever hear about pacemaker hacking, now that BJ is dead.

/I'm guessing freak heart attack or aneurysm.

And a cool name worth repeating.  Doesn't sound like a computer dude.  His name is more befitting of:

Barnaby Jack committed the greatest train robbery of the 19th Century, but the law and his demise caught up to him when he and the McLennan Brothers rode horses into Dodge City etc...

or

Australia's greatest known pioneer through the Outback, Barnaby Jack, was killed on this day in 1910 when playing his didgeridoo too close to a group of Aborigines, etc..
