CIA probably already knows about the pacemaker trick and wanted him to shut up about it lest potential targets with pacemakers become wise.

Well at least he used his powers for good instead of evil.  The good ones always croak first.

And a cool name worth repeating.  Doesn't sound like a computer dude.  His name is more befitting of:

Barnaby Jack committed the greatest train robbery of the 19th Century, but the law and his demise caught up to him when he and the McLennan Brothers rode horses into Dodge City etc...

or

Australia's greatest known pioneer through the Outback, Barnaby Jack, was killed on this day in 1910 when playing his didgeridoo too close to a group of Aborigines, etc..

Those Defcon hackers are a goldmine for government recruitment. I'm surprised the Feds would ever allow someone as useful as him get killed.

Why do we have a "repeat" tag? Is something gained by regurgitating the same information? "Followup" I understand; more information, further developments. But this says nothing new at all.

He hacked ATMs. He was gonna tell about hacking pacemakers. He's dead. People figure he was whacked. We got it.

2013-07-29 03:37:24 PM
Would be cool if life was like the movies and he had an internet deadman switch set up to release the information to the public if he doesn't log in to some obscure server once a week.

ArcadianRefugee: Why do we have a "repeat" tag?

I think it explains it in the FAQ somewhere -- It's for when the admins see a headline that they think is too good to pass up.
