She was awesome when she appeared on the Muppet Show.

Godscrack: The tide is high, and she's moving on.

One way or another, she'll return to singing. Otherwise it'll seem like she has a heart of glass.

I didn't realize Blondie was still together, let alone touring. Whenever I hear of some band who hasn't been relevant in years still touring I can't help but wonder if it's because they really love the work or if they're just flat broke and need to pay bills.

I've always assumed it's because they really love fried food on a stick and carnival rides.

68? ....more like Hips of Glass

CSB...I hooked up with Debbie back in '87, and yes, she was hairy. And the carpet didn't match the pubes.

/not really...I was 13 in '87

I will always associate "Heart of Glass" with the roller skating rink.

The headline (DRTFA) said Debbie Harry was retiring, not Blondie.  That means they are going to replace her with someone marginally famous.  Just imagine, "Heart of Glass" or "Number One" sung by.... Justin Beiber.

That one's free, you're welcome.

I got to see them (on a double bill with Cheap Trick) at a local outdoor venue last summer. Both performances were pretty good.

And yeah, I'm sure they DO do it for the money, since it's, like, their job.

RIP Little Debbie...which Harry had too many of.

Blondie's guitarist, Chris Stein, produced/played on what is generally considered to be one of Iggy Pop's worst albums, "Zombie Birdhouse."

Criminally underrated new wave masterpiece, I say.

Does anyone else think that she would have been a good, wild, hard fark back in the day? That is the impression I get. I suspect many men wanted her back then.

Hell, I would now just to say I did.

/Then I'd ask her to sing Rainbow Connection just like she did on The Muppet Show.
//She was actually terrible on the Muppet Show.
///Atomic > All other Blondie songs

This past year, Blondie was on tour with Devo. I saw them in St. Augustine and, while Devo put on an amazing show (as usual), my wife and I walked out three songs into Blondie's set. Her voice is shot and she looked like she was pretty drunk. While Devo was introducing new songs and performing their old ones with gusto, Blondie seemed like they were just going through the motions, milking the teat of reminiscence.

Chris Stein is still pretty boss, though.

Devo is FANTASTIC live!

I think most of them got big enough  to avoid going to college and acquiring marketable job skills and joining the "real world", but not big enough to be financially comfortable (much less retire).   It's either play the Topeka County Fair or get a minimum wage job

She was hot in the '70s, but will not be in her '70s. It is sensible that she will retire. Grace Slick said she doesn't want to see old people on a stage, and won't subject a audience to it. Maybe Debbie Harry feels the same.

The state/county fair circuit can be plenty lucrative, and there are thousands of them every year.

Saw her about 3 years ago with Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, She should have retired long before then because she looked like a 60+ grandmother in black flowing skirt trying to hide how fat she was. And she was sweaty and the voice was not good at all.

Pat Benatar on the other hand........  yum!

If by "Number One", you mean "Tide is High"...

There you go, close enough...

I've seen her twice.  The first time was around 1990 and it was the Escape from New York Tour.  It featured the Ramones (main act), the Tom Tom Club with Jerry Harrison (basically Talking Heads without David Byrne), Debbie Harry and Chris Stein.  It was a fantastic concert.  The other time was when Deb was touring with the Jazz Passengers.  Enjoyed that show too.  I may have to try to see them next year if they come close to Lexington.

Do a GIS for "Debbie Harry Doctor X t-shirt"

Oh yeah.  It's not the shirt, but the lack of...oh well, see for yourself.

MOST.  DEFINITELY.  NSFW.
