uber humper: Rozinante: liam76: Consumers were noted according to gender, hair color, hair length, facial hair and accessories.

I would be interested in a race breakdown.

Well, the top two states are places I would go to find non-white people. The next two are places I would go to find only white people. Maybe it's irrelevant?

Aren't Caucasians a minority in Texas?

Depends, do you trust the "White American" and "Non-Hispanic Whites" breakdown census verbiage at all?

If it comes from the government, it's convoluted.  So, no.  But in responding to Rozinate's post that Texas is a place to go to ONLY find white people, he/she is far far off.

Texas white population, 48.3%, latino 36%, black 11.4 %, other 5%.

Louisiana, Arizona and Mississippi  - too stupid to steal.

In Texas, sweet iced tea should run for free from spigots and fountains.

Not far off.  As I think grade school students Latinos take the lead.

Another generation.  Or whenever amnesty passes. Makes no difference to me.

Wook: Fallout Zone: Politicians, yes, but what makes govt employees more dishonest than anyone else?

Little or no accountability?

What is a government employee in your mind? I can assure you that I am more accountable at my government job than I ever have been in the private sector:

-I hold two professional certifications that can be suspended/revoked due to bad behavior that occurs on or off the job.

-If I fail to do my job, firing is the least of my worry. I am sworn to do my job, which takes the consequences of negligence up a notch. It also means that someone has most likely died or been seriously injured through fault on my part. Both criminal and civil charges are easily imaginable should I fail to do my job.

-I was suspended without pay due to an arrest. It was a misuderstanding and the charges were dropped in less than two weeks. The charges were minor and had no bearing on my job, but I was suspended until a satisfactory disposition would be reached. In the private sector my employer would never have known about the arrest, let alone done anything about it. In my government job I informed my boss of the arrest myself, knowing that he would have to suspend me. Not informing him would have been grounds for disciplinary action.

No accountability, my ass.

Pretty sure it's East Orange, NJ. Something like 98% black.

Which happens to border Glen Ridge, NJ, which is 98% white.

Segregation, us Yankees can do it with the best of them!

Heron: Millennium: animalmagnet: Correlation does not equal causation.  Just because some politicians may be dishonest does not mean that they are all dishonest, but if you're betting, go with the odds.

You know what they say to do when in Rome, though. It may be that politicians are the only dishonest people to move there in any significant numbers, but they serve as the city's main role models. Is it any wonder if some of their dishonesty rubs off on the populace?

Coke isn't even providing any evidence to back these claims. They throw out a bundle of numbers and anecdotes and that's supposed to be convincing?

Those "anecdotes" sound exactly like the observations recorded in any number of experiments in the social sciences. Anecdotes become data if they come from a repeatable trial, and you've repeated that trial many time, much like coke has hear.

So you say they aren't providing any evidence, once you dismiss the data, ie "numbers" they have provided.

Depends on where you go - I live in Dallas/Ft. worth and there are spots you can go if you want to see all black people, all white, all mexican, whatever.  I'm sure I'd be labeled a racist if I pointed out how "nice" each area is depending on which is the predominant race.

What I'm interested in is when white people become a statistical and true minority - will we be able to hold special race rallies and get special consideration for jobs/college/etc? Will I be able to use words that other colors are not supposed to use without fear of extreme judgement or social outcry?  Will I be able to hold a white power sign like black people hold a black power sign and be able to "get away with it"? And will I be able to father 10 kids by 10 women and have no responsibility to any of them? These are extreme sarcastic examples of course :)

I'm guessing not.

Despite my arguments I actually care little for color on any side - what I do care about is being a decent person, working hard, paying your bills, and not committing crime and generally being a drain on society, every color has groups that just fail at the basic understand of what it means to be a good human being, what proportion this group is vs the whole is where it gets interesting.  I'd love to get rid of all the pure white trash just as much as I'd love to get rid of the gangbanging black thugs but that will never happen.

I blame welfare.

Considering all the taxpayer wealth constantly being funnelled to the people I mentioned hand over fist, then I guess you blame the same people I do.

And I notice the thinly veiled undercurrent of racism in your posts. You should also note that the kiosks were set up in downtown business areas more packed with white people, not the areas where black people in DC live. DC is a diverse city, but the demographics change quite a bit depending on where you are and folks tend to self-segregate (though IMHO less so then in some other cities). Down among the capitol buildings and the mall isn't the same as SE and NE. Most likely the location was filled with lobbyists, executives, etc.... Probably a fair amount of tourists too.

I don't have a problem with other races.  I have a problem with welfare keeping people down, keeping people on the government teat to control them.

As far as being racist, no.  I'll make racial jokes, for me not to would display an acknowledgement of the inferiority of the people that I avoid joking about. Everyone is the same, everyone is fair game.

I'd much rater live in a place with diversity than none.  In fact, I wish the borders were wide open to anyone.

Product placement is everything peoples! Like, were the Kiosks all in the same area of a state-say the state's capitol? Relative population density? Rural vs. City? Sure there was more theft in DC-but that town is one ol' tourist treadmill-some of the people taking that crap could have been......foreigners!!!! Or some folks figuring that for once, they were seeing their tax dollars at work and could enjoy a cold tea colored fluid on a typically hot, humid DC day, a town built on a drained swamp! Or, as posited in the article, people steal stuff.

"I Won't Let D.C. Lose Its Flavor," Natalie Hopkinson Link

"In the small act of choosing to buy our home where we did, I believe that we became part of a growing group of African Americans who are picking up where the civil rights movement left off. From our perspective, integration is overrated. It's time to reverse an earlier generation's hopeful migration into white communities and attend to some unfinished business in the 'hood. . . . We not only have to invest in the inner city, but we can't let white people beat us to it. . . . We wanted to hold a line, stake out our turf." This is "Chocolate City," Hopkinson wrote. Will it turn to vanilla? "Not if I have anything to say about it. . . . It's our responsibility as black people to return to these historically black communities that are finally rebounding. . . . There is a real sense among black Washingtonians that the city is slipping away from us."

"We got to do something about these Asians coming in and opening up businesses and dirty shops," "They ought to go. I'm going to say that right now. But we need African-American businesspeople to be able to take their places, too." - Former District of Columbia mayor Marion Barry after winning the city's Council Ward 8 primary, demanding that "they ought to go,".
