It's decent beer.
Not as good as it's main regional competitor Erie Brewing Co, but close.

What I love about the Edmond Fitzgerald, besides the taste and availability, is that I imagine that label may be possible in real life within a decade or two.

Now, see, this is the kind of shiat that science should be working on.

"But what about the cure for cancer and a super battery for our cars?"

Yeah, screw all that.

Maybe just cute but this guy gave science a new worthy goal. Spread the word! High school kids, this is why you're going to college. Do it.

Actually, that my be technically possible.

Paper battery already exists (this for example); if someone combined it with some sort of e-ink technology then perhaps it could be done. Would have to be cheap enough, and it would stop working when the battery run out of charge, but it would be a really neat thing to see...

It's not unpossible.  A while back, Esquire did a limited release of an eInk cover that was bendy and ran for months on coin cells.  Get some thin, curved batteries, bump the refresh rate, and build the display into an insulating foam label 1/8" thick and you're good to go.

And later that night when 'is lights went outta sight
came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Hurm.... Just an extension of this, really: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8211209.stm

Still, a worthwhile goal.

Get to it, science! To hell with my diabetes!

Animated labels is something the advertising industry has been dreaming about since E Ink started up in 1997.  The timing of that was critical for the long-term suppression of the concept of animated labels, but you wouldn't know this if you weren't web browsing in the 1990s when the blink tag was abused into oblivion and color choices for color blinkies were horrendous.  Companies envisioned their products on grocery aisles where everything on the shelves blinked for attention, and said "no way, even we can't stomach that descent into hell."

6 years ago, a company called XYZ RGB came up with a way to embed about 6-8 seconds worth of video in a sheet of plastic.
James Cameron bought the technology and it has disappeared. Looked amazing.
