He said, 'Y'all need a ride?'  'Well, yes.' 'My car's right here, right around the corner,' " Montgomery says. "I just tell her,  'Let's take a chance.' The guy was super nice, he took us right to the hotel."

What a bad idea. Call a taxi.

She says she was at a store in a suburb with her friend, without a car,  and realized they'd have to walk half a mile back to her hotel.

Or sh*t, just walk. Half a mile is not far.

I grew up in the Cleveland area (Beachwood and Cleveland Heights), my father teaches still at CSU. Cleveland is a tragedy. It has the best Orchestra, bar none, an excellent art museum which is free, Natural History Museum, science center, rock hall, and more...and nothing. A good way to show this is Balto, we all know Balto, fuzzy dog that saved all those kiddos in Nome, AK. Balto is in Cleveland. He is encapsulated in a glass box about the size of small closet. you are looking at wild animals stuffed and huh...there's Balto. Yeah...that's Cleveland for you. I now live in Maine.

Yup.  It's like every midsized to large midwestern city except slightly more boring.  There's some good bits, there's some bad bits, there's some "Wow, that's a lot of abandoned/falling apart houses" bits, there's the [number between 3 and 8] things that you do in [city].  It's a fairly nice place to grow up if you're in [list of middle to upper-middle class burbs], and the low COL means that you can get a 4 BR house with a basement and a yard for cheap(er), so it's a decent place to raise a family, and if you ever get a hankering for [major city], you can afford to just go play tourist for a week.

Somehow that is all Drew Careys fault IMHO, factual or not.

It is still Cleveland. You can only dress up a pig so far...

Maybe Detroiters will murder you, but there's been an awful lot of kidnapping and rape in Cleveland.

I guess there's a joke in there if you like rape.

Most popular pickup line "Hey how you doing, you know, you would look great in the trunk of my car"

2013-07-26 07:21:40 PM
I was visiting Cleveland for work a few months back. Whenever I travel, I always like to turn on the local news stations while I get ready in the morning. The lead story one day? A woman was accused of murdering another woman,  because the murder victim mocked the accused's flatulence.

"Tee hee hee, you farted!"
"I'LL FARKING KILL YOU FOR THAT!"

As a resident of Cleveland, articles like this get me pretty steamed. The city is actually pretty great, just stay west of 117. Great German bar at Loraine and 130.

And Fathead's is also cool. We have one in Pittsburgh, but the original is cooler.

This is funny because it makes fun of a city that has too many black people.

I resolved to be less rapey and stabby this year too, but some habits are hard to change.

What's the "proper" ratio of black people to white people?

Yeah, unless you're further south which I am. I wasn't being very generous and the wife and I are looking to leave, but I will miss Westpark and the western suburbs

I don't know how criminals getting caught for rape and murder is a BAD thing...    That stuff happens in other cities, but you never hear about it, because they never get caught....

I'd rather be raped in Cleveland than most any other city.

I know its fun to make jokes about certain cities. And sure some do stand out with particular issues. But really, Cleveland is no differant than any city we all live in or near to.
There are nice areas with good resturants, shopping, culture and arts. And there are bad areas with a wretched hive of scum an villainy (can't believe I just made a Stars Wars reference, I am not a nerd), that everyone tells you to stay away from. And then there's the rest, Blue collar, working class, that just want to make a living and come home to comfort.
Cleveland sounds like a nice place. Went to the R&R Hall of Fame many years ago. We had a nice time. Can't beat Sanduskies Cedar Point. But its really frickin cold there in the winter. And its still Ohio.

Imagine the poor kids who had their formative years from  95-99. Sadly i was 13 when the Browns left and had left the city by the time they came back..Returned in 2006. No one gets why i don't give a shiat.

I had an interview for a job in Independence this week, so I'm really getting a kick...

On a serious note, if I were to relocate, Cleveland Farkers, what neighborhoods/towns near Independence would I want to live in?

/Kinda like the idea of year-round hiking at Cuyahoga Valley Nat'l Park.
//Also like the idea of pints at Great Lakes Brewing Company

North Royalton is a nice quiet suburb. Really close to Strongville, which has a ton of shopping and restaurants, but just far enough away from most of the noise. If you have the money, Seven Hills is a very nice neighborhood. I'd avoid Parma unless you really miss the 80's

Born in Italy, didn't open a restaurant in Cleveland till he was almost 30. Though the poor basterd died in parma.

Then I read:
The racial makeup of the city is 53.3% African American

Past its tipping point.
