wow, that was a terrible ad. weird drunken sam elliot VO. a mix of motion and stills. cheesy supers. i give it a 3/10.

now, the message, on the other hand, is really good. they just need to quit smoking reefer and execute properly.

I went to Talladega once and the crew I was with smoked weed and blew lines the whole weekend.  I think they're already on board.

With advertising for drugs you don't want to convert people.  Drugs already sell themselves.  You just want to sell more and to do that you just want to reinforce behavior.  Remind people that drinking beer will help them have a good time, smoking cigarettes will make them look cool, and smoking meth will help them be extra productive.

In addition to ads for boner pills, testosterone deodorant, AT&T, I ate the bones, Toyota with that space shuttle tow, NASCAR Green Initiative, NAPA Know How every 5 minutes with plenty of coverage of green flag pit stops and While We Were Aways for the really important stuff, as well as phantom debris for those times when they need more revenue?

Yeah, NASCAR is back on ESPN. Thank goodness it's only for 2 more seasons.

Oh, and their pixel-wide Side by Sides, only shown at the network's discretion.

/bitter fan? yeah I am

And after all that, it's an ad that's gonna be at the speedway and not TV.

FAIL.

/maybe not, my longsuffering TV watching compratriots would agree

If you think ESPN's coverage of NASCAR has been bad so far... Just wait until you see what it's like in a "lame duck" year.

This has been a strange week of motorsports for me.

Ive always thought marijuana advocacy groups were at their least effective when they draw parallels with booze.

The argument always ends up something like "In the hierarchy of awful things booze is even worse than weed".
Sort of like saying "Lung cancer sucks ASS! Chronic bronchitis with broken ribs is worlds better"

They should try to advocate  weed in a better light. Put it in a heirarchy of awesom4e things instead of awful things. "Sex is GREAT!  Being high is almost as good and sex on weed is better! Try weed man you will really like it!"

Alcohol lobby will make sure the sign breaks before their booze fueled fans show up.

/All Nascar workers(teams, employees, announcers) must submit to drug tests or be banned from the arena.
//Illegal to do without evidence, but people are exceptionally stupid about their Rights and will comply, instead of making good cash with easy winning lawsuits.

Pro-marijuana video ad outside Indianapolis Motor Speedway snuffed out

Relatively well-done headline, I thought, for the Indy Star.

I had the way funnier headline: GREEN GREEN GREEN

That marijuana ad? It's been pulled.

@JennaFryer
The company who paid for ad didn't like it and stopped running it

In other words, they got their free publicity and now they don't have to pay to actually run the ad.

Ad might have gotten better mileage at Bristol.  It is Tennessee's cash crop after all.

Thinking one might need a little bit of marijuana for the funeral procession that is the BY400
