So stop being racist.

2013-07-26 04:06:56 PM
heard this on NPR this morning. the texas AG even said something about the "democrat (sic) party." these guys are heavy-duty derpers.

2013-07-26 04:08:36 PM
In its filing in San Antonio, the Justice Department said that "in every redistricting cycle since 1970, courts have similarly found that one or more of Texas' statewide redistricting plans violated the voting guarantees of the Constitution or provisions of the Voting Rights Act."

How did Fox News let that slip in there?

It must be false on some level, somehow.

I heard about this earlier. Apparent 'tyranny' is not letting states block most of their citizens from voting.

It all harkens back to the Constitution's well known liberal bias. Except the second amendment. That part's OK. Twenty-first can stay too.

Look if we let students, minorities and women vote they might not vote the right way, we're just protecting them from making mistakes

Glad I left. Fark off, Texas.

Why do the conservative hero's always sound like they are having an argument on a school playground.

I'm okay with anyone who loses the ability to vote through this crap having the exceptional right to kill any Texas politician they choose with no repercussions.

As a Texas, I would prefer to have Amanda Bynes as our governor than this guy.

Democrats to black people:  We believe your race is too wholly inept to acquire a Government issued ID.

Remember, Republicans are the "racist" ones that keep you down so keep voting "D".

It is appalling how naked they are in trying to suppress votes they don't like. Regardless of that what I wonder is if the Roberts court actually did us a favor in the long term. For the past several decades these blatant racists have been held in check by the VRA, so their racist agenda didn't matter as much -- at least not for voting. For many people the actions of the VRA have been all but invisible.

Now without the VRA protections they have gone in to such a feeding frenzy that even the most pundit-in-denial has to take notice. WIthout the VRA, their overreach might just get the people affected by it to vote them out just through a sense of outrage.

That's the real cure -- if all the underclasses the GOP hates actually went to vote the GOP would be no more. At least in its present form.

And good riddance to you, sir. Redistricting and voter ID laws serve to prevent Detroits from happening in Texas. The fact of the matter is this: There is a segment of the US population that has no business voting anyway.

Just out of curiosity ... what state did you move to?

How do you redistrict in a way that violates voting guarantees of the constitution?  Just have swaths of land that does not have an elected representative?

Redistricting and voter ID helps prevents a city that relies on a single industry from dying when that industry makes short-sighted decisions that cause the industry to crumble around the city?

Yes, that's it exactly.  Democrats are also coddling minorities by not making them take a test of some kind before registering, or paying some sort of fee or duty when voting, or rounding up the value of their vote to 1.

I'm waiting for them to just come clean and start pushing for a return to the system where only landed white males can vote.

Neither. What Mr. Pork said is dead on right (but you probably know that already ... you're just too committed to being a disingenuous white liberal).

To be fair the states exempted from preclearance were going to learn pretty quickly to wait to the last minute to make changes anyways.  Which is going to get ugly.  REALLY ugly when that happens.

I know one of the only things I still hold in esteem with regards to this country is my right to vote.  I can't even imagine how apeshiat I would go if some knucklehead tried to take that away from me, or block me from exercising that right.

Multiply that by thousands if not millions of folks who will show up to the polls only to find they've been disenfranchised by these jackoffs and you have a recipe for major civil unrest.
