And for a bonus, the shiathead Congressman who's district I barely got redistricted into is under investigation. I'm so proud.

The last election was mighty close.  The party has been frowning on her shenanigans.  It was time to go home and count her money.  The next election will be very interesting.

And the reason why she was trying to get Swiss citizenship. She probably knew a lot of her shady business was about to come to the surface and was trying to pack up and go.

wait, what?

She was a Swiss citizen since 1978. She renounced it in 2012. Damn I hate having to defend that vapid twat but you made me do it.

I was going to ask why her own party seemed to be pushing this along.

"see we police our own too"
as they censure a congress WOMAN, for being uppity, and who is not seeking reelection anyway.

No. she was eligible to be a Swiss citizen since 1978 because her husband is of Swiss decent. She didn't apply for Swiss citizenship until Feb of 2012 and her citizenship was granted in March 2012.  Then when it became public that she registered for Swiss citizenship, was granted it and know has dual citizenship, she asked the Swiss government to withdraw her citizenship.

I hope the fact that you wrongly defended a vapid twat makes you feel better.

and a day after that she renounced her Swiss citizenship

She has also said, rather publicly, that the only reason she did it was because a couple of her kids wanted dual citizenship so they "did it as a family". She has been pretty steadfast that she had it "automatically" since her marriage.

Her kids could have done it on their own if they wanted to, she didn't have to do it herself. The only reason why she renounced it was because of the public backlash she received for doing it, notice she renounced it after the story of it broke.  And she wasn't a Swiss citizen because her husband didn't register their marriage with the Swiss government until Feb 2012, so they had no idea that they were married.

If they find anything, she'll just resign the day before the report is released. When she is no longer a member of Congress, the report won't be released to the public. That's what happened to Nathan Deal who turned around and got elected governor of Georgia.

Well, if they never bothered to consummate their marriage...

In a Biblical world, we could take her to the edge of the village and stone her to death with stones.

Her blood would be upon her, he is the lord our God, etc.

I don't think the party forgave her for primarying their anointed back in the early 00's. The district is pretty red, so they can run a purer Republican. But they really don't want a lightning rod or gaffe maker. Which is why the race will be interesting. Some of the announced have the chance to turn up the derp to woo the faithful. But that could be a turn off.

Pretty much this.  She's probably being pushed out to make room for some other slightly less deranged Republican.  If she ran for that district again she might just lose it, but they probably figure someone with less overt crazy can keep it in the R column.

/probably correct

Yeah, but she claims the dual citizenship thing was "automatic", and she had no say in the matter. It doesn't work this way at all. My father was Canadian, and as a result, I have the option of dual citizenship if I so choose, but it is no way "automatic"... She's still a lying biatch.

I can't seriously be the first person to tell you this, but from a Canadian point of view, it absolutely is automatic.

If your dad was born in Canada, then sorry, but you're a Canadian.

I could swear I saw that ad as a pop-up on Fark.  Or maybe it was on the Christian Mingle website.  You know; the one where couples meet the loves of their life, and they have their 1st child only 1 month after they get married.

/guess they prayed for a 'miracle,' too

Sara Palin has shown that being a talking head is easier and more lucrative than being a politician. Look for Bachmann to have her own Fox News segment, and possibly a radio show, within weeks of her leaving.

2013-07-27 07:39:44 PM
The allegation is that Sorenson allegedly violated rules barring senators from being paid directly or indirectly by a political campaign - specifically whether Sorenson received payments while he worked for Minnesota GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann's campaign for president in Iowa.

MB allegedly paid Sorenson 7,500 bucks a month for 7 months in direct violation of the law by funneling it through C&M Strategies, a fundraising firm.

She also paid 40K to C&M while the firm's owner served as Bachmann's national political director leading up to the Iowa caucuses, again in direct violation of campaign law

Between this thing, the leaning on whistle blowers thing and the not paying her employees after making them sign non disclosure agreements thing it looks like the teahaddist's fave poster girl is in a bit of a pickle.
