We're using a credit system that was designed in the 50s-60s....
The politicians passing laws to protect us from abuses of that system were raised/educated in the 70-80s....
The private companies acting as gatekeepers to our information still operate as if it were the 90s....

Is it any wonder that identity theft is the number 1 fastest growing crime?

Across the pond - in the EU - they just recently passed a law regarding COOKIES.  MOTHER FARKING COOKIES.  They've passed a law that requires websites that use COOKIES to tell people, in plain text, on their homepage, that they use cookies.  FARK ME SO HARD.  (For the non-tech savvy - cookies are small text files that have been apart of the web for...well, I'm too lazy to Google it, decades, at least.  They are harmless and every browser worth using allows you to enable/disable them at will.)  This is the forefront of cyber-security.  Clueless old politicians passing laws they don't understand about things they don't get.
