So sad how this country reacts to sex or violence. Naked pics of a cop on a police computer system, move to fire that person. A cop shoots and kills a person, DA doesn't file charges or cop serves a paid suspension.

I'm willing to bet she had auto sync turned on and when she plugged her phone into the computer to charge it pulled all the photos onto the computer.

On a computer is a cop beside her motorcar,
Fellow officers poking 'round behind her back,
For the Sergeant didn't wear a mac,
Even in the pouring rain.
Very strange.

Penny Dane is on your screen and in your files,
Barely-clad in blue-uniformed style,
She sits and meanwhile back in...

Penny Dane, she was a sergeant with siome nudie pics,
And in her pocket was a letter; she resigned.
She liked to keep her Crown Vic so fine.
'Twas a fine machine.
Never mind...

Penny Dane is on your screen and in your files...

As one of the resident IT geeks, I too think there's much more to this story.

That said, I personally practice keeping an 'air barrier' between work and personal. if Mrs Xaks and I get giggy wit it and take pictures, there are places for those....and they aren't on a work phone.

Personal cell doesn't even get plugged in to work machines.

Work and home do NOT touch. Period. Full stop.

Whatever is done on a work machine, I assume, passes through the CEO and counsel's hands before getting shoveled onto the front page of the daily rag.

That I'm the one that gets the requests to scan user machines/folders for inappropriate shiat and get them canned just means I see what happens when people DON'T do this.

"The pictures were discovered during an internal investigation, which started after Dane filed a complaint against another officer. "

Nothing to see here, move along, folks.

It says it came to light AFTER she filed a report against a fellow officer.....perhaps she made a money grab by trying to say someone sexually harassed her...they looked for evidence on her computer and bingo her pics popped up? That would also explain trying to run her out of law enforcement if she was acting like a money hungry lying tool.

She should have shot a black kid wearing a hoodie. She would have had a cop job for life.

Man!  I hope her body is better looking than her face.  She should have worn a bag over her head, that way they would not know it was her.

ReapTheChaos: "We'll be going after her license so that she can never become a cop again.  Never be a cop anywhere in the state of Florida."

Doesn't that seems a tad harsh over a few nude pics? This is the kind of thing you expect if they found child porn on someones computer, not some self nude shots. I suspect there's a lot more to this story.

Yep. Especially since, "The pictures were discovered during an internal investigation, which started after Dane filed a complaint against another officer."

Philbb: As mentioned above, I'd be interested in knowing why someone else was going through her computer looking at images in the first place. I could be that the machine was in for maintenance, upgrade, etc... But, unless she had them in a folder on her desktop labeled something like "Sexy Pics of Me" I don't understand why someone would, officially, scan the machine for dirty pictures.

Many (most?) employers, including government, use software that remotely scans networked computers for forbidden content.  "Forbidden" usually includes - games, unlicensed software, digital media without DRM (ripped music), and yes personal photos.  This all happens automatically, similar to a virus scan.  And this isn't just at mega-secure corporations.  It is extremely common now.

Cops are public service employees, same as teachers. If a teacher was dumb enough to upload pics to her desktop pc (and that hard drive does not belong to her), you better believe she would be dumped. Same with cops I imagine. I would think it's the same for many private sector jobs as well. You want to upload your nudies to a hard drive that is not yours, best of luck in the new job hunt. It's just really stupid to do. Vindictive? Maybe she wouldn't take the IT geek up on a night out on town. Who knows. It's still not defensible.

It does seem pretty harsh, almost vindictive. As mentioned above, I'd be interested in knowing why someone else was going through her computer looking at images in the first place. AirForceVet: You may have a valid point. She would need a forensic inspection of her work computer though. And that may how the pictures were found.

I agree something stinks. I'm not sure it involves sabotage or planting evidence.

More along the lines of the super knowing what she did on the side and thinking he could leverage that for sexytime?

Or just acting however the hell he pleased knowing he could have her investigated and bully her into dropping harassment charges in exchange for not completely destroying her life.

Yeah, smells like a smear job, but no way to tell really.

Something stinks really badly about this story.  As in, maybe she had beef with another officer (male?), the superior officer took his side, and then together the good old boys they ran her out of the department by shaming her, showing everyone her selfies, which the first officer (her ex boyfriend?) already had, maybe, and they somehow found their way onto her "work" computer, and she's too farking embarassed to defend herself?

Yes, it's a total outrage, she should never work again the reporter echoes.  FARK!!

she needs ... <seinfeldlawyer.jpg>
