Here is the cat in question...

I put the 200mm lens on, and he decided to stay within 8 feet of me, too close to focus.
So I replaced the 200mm with the 27-80mm for closer focus, so he decided to go play in the yard.
I give up, it's worse than shooting little kids.

Hi everyone, been away a bit and with packing and whatnot, totally missed last week and have been since I got home yesterday catching up (spotty at best cell service, and a VERY basic data plan kept me mostly off-line).  Another lot of sad this week, and to those whose cats have crossed the bridge in the last couple of weeks... It's hard right now to try to focus on the good memories and fun times, but try, over time that's what sticks with you.  And a few seem to need to find some better doctors...
maynerdkitty, I'm really enjoying the chicks updates!  I've half been thinking of getting a couple, my daughter had a week of riding camp earlier this Summer, and she was at least as interested in the chicks and hens as the horses(!)
I tried to find it from a few weeks ago but couldn't, and to the photographer, my apologies.  But I was very inspired by some hummingbird pictures a few weeks ago, and well the place we were staying at had a couple of hummingbird feeders, and after a little experimentation, was able to capture these ruby throated hummingbirds:

Question:
Does anyone else have bad luck with giving their cat Flagyl (Metronidazole)? Seems like every cat I've ever given it to becomes ill.

Nathan seemed much better until we started dosing him. He became (more) urpy and lethargic right after the first dose. We believe they just prescribed it as a precaution since he didn't show any signs of infection, so we decided not to give him the afternoon dose. Now he's up and about....enjoying some noms. He's still not quite 100%, but slowly getting there. I think we're just going to flush the remainder of the Flagyl.

Unfortunately, BigHairyGuy and Ialso have a sad in our household this week.  Leonardo has been losing weight and just recently was diagnosed with IBS and lymphoma in his small intestines.  We worked with the Vet to get him better with steroids, appetite stimulants and anti nausea meds, and things were looking ok.  But Tuesday, after he got his daily pills (the sweetie was SO good about taking his pills), he started acting extremely weird.  By Tuesday night, I was so worried I called the Vet too see what was going on.  She mentioned side effects of the appetite stimulants, and checking the internet we found his symptoms were spot on for Serotonin Syndrome, so we were all set up to take him in Wednesday morning. When we got there, the Vet took a look at him and said he was very dehydrated, and might need some electrolytes, and he wanted to do some blood work and kept him for the day to see how he did after that course of action.

Well with a VERY high white blood cell count, and abnormal liver numbers, the Vet did x-rays and an ultrasound, and our poor baby's liver was in very bad shape.  About all we could do was to keep him medicated and try to make him comfortable.  We didn't feel right letting him suffer just to keep him with us, so Leo crossed the Rainbow Bridge Wednesday evening.

Leo was a rescue kitty, and became my Master in March of 2004.  BigHairyGuy joined us in 10/2009.
Sweet, sassy, cuddly and silly; he leaves a big hole in our lives and in our hearts.

Ice Queen, I am so sorry to hear about your uncle. It's hard enough dealing with medical uncertainty of any sort and is scary just all on its own, but add in what appears to be a lack of competence leading to misdiagnosis or a delay in treatment and you've just gone from scary and worrisome to pants-crappingly terrifying. I am so sorry he's having to go through this. I'm so sorry for your entire family. Give everyone a hug from me and ask for one in return.

DoomsDayAardvark, words cannot even express how I felt reading that. I am so, so sorry for your loss. When my Mr Marmalade died, he was over 20 years old, but my son was only a couple years older. We form deep bonds with our animal companions and my son's bond with that cat was much like how your bond with Kay sounds. Best friend, confidante, cuddle buddy. My entire family was devastated by that loss, but especially my son. I think your obituary was a beautiful, loving tribute to a best friend who was there for you in your time of need, just as you were there for him during his. It sounds cliche, but it does help - remember the good times and hold them close to your heart. When you do that, he's never really gone, but instead lives on in your heart where he knew he truly belonged and took up his rightful spot long ago.

Lsherm, it's not callous at all. My Grandmother died last week after us caring for her for many years, the last few being especially hard. She died with me holding her hand, mere moments after I told her I loved her. It hurt so badly, because my Grandma was my best friend and the only family member I've ever been very close to at all. When I told my Caturday family, I specifically asked them to not be bummed about it. Caturday is one of those places where we all can come and share our joy and our sorrow and know we have the biggest hearts and sweetest souls on the net there to lend us emotional support if need be. The giggling and silliness and cute little fuzzy heads helps just as much as any words of comfort. We should not dwell in our grief, but rather acknowledge it and move on. Caturday and the pics and the stories is one way of doing that, and it helps more than some will ever know. Don't be afraid to post pics after bad news. The worst things get, the more you need that giggle or that sweet little furbaby, so post away!

Now that my daily quasi-essay is done, I'll spare you all the blow by blow of my Super Secret Lair of Infinite Doom™ reorganization project and just throw out "beat THIS 'stache, Hamilton!"

Whenever we have a sad, or series of same, remember that some animal crept into a life, formed a bond strong enough, that the loss creates a hole in life. And soul.

. Believe it or not, this is a good thing. For it shows that you are capable of giving and receiving love, in it's most pure form. You understand discipline. And commitment. And..the healing power of one fuzzy body, greeting you. Snuggling with you when you are ill, or sad. Dancing with you across the foor when you are happy. And not eating you in your sleep for that..demanding. Loving. Companion. What a wonderful gift. Blessed Be.

Have I told y'all lately that I love you? The world is a mean place with people who can bully, ignore, patronize, and harm others.

Caturday is nothing like that, and the folks here do everything they can to put forward the most positive vibes they can. That makes this place priceless. I know that you all understand how special this board is, but I just wanted to say it and thank you all for creating this little sanctuary every week.

As I close things up for the evening, I'd just like to extend one more thank you to all of the fine people who have offered condolences to me and my family this weekend.  You guys are fantastic.  I never realized how many "fans" Kay had lurking out there, and I'd like to thank those who de-lurked just to offer condolences.  You guy are great, too.  And I can't imagine a better send-off thread for my little buddy.  This thread had it all: sad farewells to Kay and Leo, happy greetings to Flower, and a very high likelihood that we'll hit kilo-kitty territory.  It even had a photoshop tennis match.

Speaking of my girlfriend, she finally had a good cry over Kay today.  She'd misplaced her sandals, and was ready to blame him for their being out of place...  "Who am I going to bicker with now?"  It's true.  The two of them gave each other a lot of crap.  He steadfastly refused to cuddle with her if she was awake or I was available (though he was perfectly happy to cuddle with her  mom when she visited), he'd bat at her when she tried to knit, and he'd chase her little craft bags all over creation.  In return, I think she only ever actually called him Kay once or twice.  It was always some variation on "Stud Muffin" for her.  It wasn't a complete week unless she told him she wasn't speaking to him anymore.

Which of course means that we, as cat people, know he really liked her.  They also shared a love of the color purple.  And if we're honest, the refusal to cuddle was "flexible."

My education and first 25 years of working was in visual communications, aka printing. It got to the point that I didn't want to see another piece of paper again. I have since been in electrical and architectural signs. Some of the projects are very interesting.

We have one right now that I will be sad to not work on if I get the State job. We have an art project that is going in one of the new buildings at OHSU, it was originally going to be neon but the salesman talked them into LED, there is a new LED "neon" that is fantastic. I have made my boss promise to keep me updated on it if I leave before it's complete. It's huge.

And a Suzy to make up for all the blah blah blah.

Smile Through the Heavens Tears

Comfort comes creeping,
Silently.

No words needed
Tails following.

Whiskers brushing
Sweeping aside pain.

Enters your Soul.
Creating pathways
Where none existed.

Making holes,
Yet creating Whole

Softly seeking you
In the darkness.

Dragging you steadily
Toward light.
One paw at a time.

Never ceasing,
Ever loving.

Gift to us.
Devotion.

One most dear.
Companion.

Living ever on,
In my heart.

Nestled snuggly
Within my memory.
Cherished.

We shall meet again.
And the Heavens
Resound with joy.

We hear the Thunder.
Another soul is greeted.

Smile through
The Heaven's Tears.
Home at last.

Thanks all for welcoming Caesar into his forever home! And a huge thank you to my TF donor. You are too awesome!

I also has a sads today. My friend who has been fighting brain cancer for the past 26 months lost his fight today. When he was diagnosed with inoperable Grade III Anaplastic Astrocytoma in May of 2011, they were hoping to have 18 months with him. He fought his battle hard with weekly chemo and radiation and was able to enjoy his family and celebrate his life for 26 months. He even hung on to see his new grandbaby, born a month ago. He stopped his treatments about 2 1/2 months ago and 2 weeks ago, he started to go downhill very fast. He lost his battle today. He was a super hero who bravely fought his battle as hard as he could.

For everyone fighting cancer, for everyone who has lost a loved one to cancer, but especially for my friend Chad and his family today, I say FU Cancer!! You Suck!

Having grown up in NYC during that period, I found it mesmerizing. Even if you did not live in one of the locations highlighted, it is a real trip down memory lane. This morning the little biddies flew up to the training roost and stood around up there grooming. For some reason it reminded me of the girls bathroom in high school. I should put a mirror up for them! It takes a lot of skill to stand up there and straighten all of their new little feathers. Some fell when they tried it.

OMG!  That would be a hilarious!  Of course they would also need a teeny tiny little Justin Bieber picture too!

NONONONO Bieber!  I play radio for them set to NPR or Classical music, I hope the birds will mature to lay better and more nutritious eggs!
For your morning coffee movie: Little hens staring at a wall, I'm not sure why they do this, they will stand and peck at the holes in the wall. Maybe there are insects behind it that I cannot see. Maybe they are dumb. One of the little hens is a dreamer and will fly to the doorway and stare at the outside world. It is like a wormhole to another universe for her. she is not quite ready to make the leap but I expect she will any day now. She has some back up, but the possibility of exploring the universe doesn't hold their attention very long, they soon go back to pecking at the wall or grooming on the roost. Little Frodo must be a rooster, the girls just swarm around him and he stands there looking confused. He hasn't jumped to the roost or to the wormhole yet.
Enjoy

akimbotoo: That is wonderful to hear sweetie! I know you both cherish the time you have with him. Those are adorable new pictures! I love that blur of a tail! I figure that if he feels good enough to have some "quality time" with his white bear, that is a good sign! :D

How is Cooper taking all of this?

Well, Cooper has started getting used to Caesar...a little. He will still run to a place beyond the baby gates if Caesar makes a move towards him (not in a mean way, just in a curious way)  but he will go right up to him and is fine as long as Caesar doesn't move. We have been fostering Caesar for almost 9 months now and it has taken this long for Cooper to get this brave. The reason we almost didn't even foster him was because of Coop and his social anxieties but he is doing ok. We try to keep him well hydrated and low stress as possible because we don't ever want another blockage. That would mean PU surgery for him and a big chunk of change for us. Racer loves him and rubs on him all the time. I know Cooper sees this but it doesn't change how he feels. Thanks for asking :o)

This morning the little biddies flew up to the training roost and stood around up there grooming. For some reason it reminded me of the girls bathroom in high school. I should put a mirror up for them! It takes a lot of skill to stand up there and straighten all of their new little feathers. Some fell when they tried it.

We spent the day today with the wonderful people who run St Louis Boxer Rescue. We had a lot of fun visiting with friends and several Boxers who are up for adoption. But the best part of the whole day was when we signed the adoption papers for Caesar.

Caesar is no longer our foster dog. He is now our forever dog! Although there were struggles in the beginning,.(he has been in seven different homes in his lifetime and came with a lot of baggage) he has come so far and we are very proud of how much he has changed for the better. We love him and couldn't imagine life without him

I'm sure the cats are thrilled....lol

Yes, her tummy is that soft and she will let you pet it.
Li-Ion had to stay in the bedroom all day because she was in the house. If he wasn't such a monster he could roam around too.

akimbotoo: spinach gunk: This dog's face makes me wish I had some caek in teh house.

[spinachgunk.smugmug.com image 530x557]

That is a hilarious look on his face!  Then I looked closer and noticed that the plate is the same pattern I have!  It took me a while to get past looking at those adorable eyes.  How is you sweet Buddy this week?  Any new pictures of the little cutie pie? :D

Buddy's doing OK right now, thanks for asking!  :)

A few weeks ago he was doing pretty poorly and we almost thought it was the end, but somehow he got through whatever it was and bounced right back.  We changed his food again which seems to have helped. The new food has more fibre and makes him poop more, which is good exercise for his back end.  You can see the tumour (when you look straight at his bum, it's off to the side at about 8 o'clock)  bulging slightly from his hindquarters when he squats to poop now, but he still seems to enjoy taking a good dump so that probably means it doesn't hurt much.  That is somewhat reassuring.

He seems to have some muscle wasting or reduced feeling in his left hind leg as well.  He needs help down the back stairs sometimes, and sometimes if he tries to change direction suddenly while we're walking (those loudmouthed birds need a-chasing), the leg folds under and he falls on his bum.  Again though, it doesn't seem to hurt, as he gets right back up and carries on as if nothing happened.

So overall he's doing better than he was a few weeks ago, but still some days you can tell he feels weak and nauseous.  More good days than bad days though.  Loves walking and treat time and cuddle time and squeeky toy play time.  His happee is our happee.  But his sad is our hair-pulling sleep-losing worry and panic.  Next scheduled vet checkup will be in 2 or 3 weeks.  He's doing very well considering everything, really.  Can't ask for much more than that.  He's our sweet baby boy.  So thankful for every day we have together.

OK some pictures now...

Happy sleepy time:

Waggy waggy time:

The white bear in his toy basket is Humpy Bear.  (I'm sure you can guess how it got its name.)  We've found Humpy Bear cast aside in various positions in different spots in the bedroom this week.  I believe that's a good sign.  ;)

DoomsDayAardvark: Wednesday morning, I was awakened by a call from the emergency vet saying that Kay had taken a turn for the worse, and that I should come see him.  He hung on just long enough for me to get there, and have about 10 minutes to say goodbye.  I held his paw as he took his last breath and drifted away.

I was so sad when I heard about Kay. He was such an awesome cat and and such a fixture on Caturday. All of us will miss your stories and photos of Kay. It's so hard when they are taken so young and so fast. CDK and I send our deepest condolences.

I wrote this little poem several years ago after my brother passed away. Seemed right to put it here...

catmandu: OK folks, i need a bit of advice. I have been feeding my cats Purina Indoor formula for a couple of years (since the financial troubles started). Mandu has suddenly decided that he no longer likes it so he rarely eats but scratches the rug to cover the bowl. At first, I thought he was just in a mood, but it has been going on for a couple of weeks and he has actually lost weight, not enough to be dangerous since he was a little thicker than ideal, but enough to be noticeable. Mika has no problem with the food. I would like some recommendations for inexpensive food that is still reasonably good. I feed my cats dry kibble free-choice.

[i283.photobucket.com image 720x960]

Gremie gets in those moods every once in a while. I usually pick up a small bag of anything else and let him have that for a couple of days and then mix the old stuff back in until the small bag is gone and then we are back to normal until the mood strikes again.

A quick update, as my morning at work have been very busy!

Got my boys to the vet, TC is fine, healthy and hale, not bad for FIV+. Did very well when they drew blood for the blood work, he's sparkling! Still needs to lose weight though.

Barby lost two pounds in six months, yaay! He now weighs 13 lbs... They did find a heart murmur though. His blood pressure is fine and in a couple months he'll be going in for his rabies, they'll do a blood test to check his thyroid and check for anemia and see if it's that.

If it isn't... Well... That means my old mans heart is getting old, huh? :(

He's nine years old...All I wants is for him to see twenty with his 'brother'... I know it's nothing to worry about but I can't help but fret about his future...

He's clearly gotten past the failure to thrive issues, but had to do a round of Interferon and Zithromax for a bad URI, so he's hanging out with Fozzie, learning how to do cat things, like play with tablets.  He weighed in at 2 pounds 3 ounces at his last visit, and I am hopeful he'll be all fat and happy and healthy this week so we can get him neutered and into a furever home.

This was my foster beastie, who I am calling Lil' Bit - they named him Hype, and that just wasn't working for me - on the day I brought him home.  I'd gotten a call to foster a kitty who needed eye drops for just a couple of weeks.  They said he was five weeks old - they typically spay / neuter at 2 pounds, and I guess they were optimistic he'd be fat and healthy by then, as he only weighed 15 ounces at the time.

lh3.googleusercontent.com

When I arrived to pick him up, they told me he also had coccidia, which is horribly nasty shiat, and was on Albon in addition to the Tobramycin drops.  We kept that up for 10 days, during which the poor little guy was quarantined to be sure he didn't share his parasites with my kitties.  Poor guy got lots of baths to clean him up, and his first forays out of the big dog crate was to go out and sun himself in the back yard - he loved it!

lh4.googleusercontent.com

Ten days after he arrived, we took him back in to see the shelter vet - he still had all the symptoms of coccidia, and I'd managed to get my hands on a tube of Marquis paste to treat him if needed, but his stool sample was negative.  At that point, though, he'd not gained any weight and they put him on Flagyl, Clavamox, Forti Flora and NutriCal and told me that it looked like a sad case of failure to thrive and the vets weren't hopeful he'd pull through.

While I don't think I have ever used that one, I have had mixed results over the years with many others, particularly Clavamox (damn, that stuff is nasty). Although the white one has only needed an antibiotic once or twice I opted for the Convenia shot, which for those of you who might be unfamiliar with it, is a broad spectrum antibiotic injection that lasts up to 4 weeks. Easier for me, and less stress for both of us (but not cheap). Just my 2¢.

reigning.cats.and.dogs: yobbery: Question:
Does anyone else have bad luck with giving their cat Flagyl (Metronidazole)? Seems like every cat I've ever given it to becomes ill.

Nathan seemed much better until we started dosing him. He became (more) urpy and lethargic right after the first dose. We believe they just prescribed it as a precaution since he didn't show any signs of infection, so we decided not to give him the afternoon dose. Now he's up and about....enjoying some noms. He's still not quite 100%, but slowly getting there. I think we're just going to flush the remainder of the Flagyl.

[www.smugmug.com image 337x450]

I haven't had a great deal of experience with Flagyl, but my current foster beastie (will post pics later) was on it and seemed to tolerate it well enough, but then he was on Clavamox, Forti Flora & NutriCal at the same time for what I think the shelter vets thought of as a last ditch effort to treat a mystery infection and failure to thrive.  He thrived.  Boy, did he ever!  I hope Nathan's tummy (and related parts) start feeling better soonest!

Clavamox is another one that's pretty potent. We've used that before with mixed results.

Nathan just enjoyed a thorough brushing, had a big drink of water and has retired to the master bedroom. He's been sleeping on the couch and it's great to see him heading for the bed again. I think the stress of it all has him down more than any pain or illness. They said he cowered in the back of the cage most of the time.

Biscuit (the spoiled brat) is not happy with all the attention Nate is getting.

lilyspad: Hey SG!  I tried to send you an email after thread close earlier this week, but it came back!  Wrong address in profile?  Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for posting that pic of Lily that you had captioned!  What a surprise to see that Tuesday morning!!  :D

Sorry about the email thing -- Yahoo mail has been doing very stupid things to me lately.  Dunno whether it's Outlook's fault or Yahoo's fault, but I got so fed up I removed my Yahoo profile from my Outlook and now get all my Yahoo stuff forwarded to my Gmail, which Outlook has no problem with.

Try sending something else to "tiny" (underscore) "doggie" (at) "yahoo" (dot) "ca" (note that it's .ca, not .com), and if it still bounces back at you, please let me know, and I'll furnish you directly with my Gmail address.

It is a pleasure captioning Lady Lily.  She is so lovable.  And hilarious.  I love all your pics of her.  :)

Sorry I haven't been doing as much captioning as I used to -- been so farking depressed lately it's not easy to be funny.  It is good medicine to laugh though, so I thank you and everyone else for providing big huge doses of that each Caturday.  I know you don't know me, but all the lols and cute cats really help cheer me up, and I am most grateful to all of you for all your wonderful weekly contributions and friendly good will.  You are good folk.

tigerose: Whenever we have a sad, or series of same, remember that some animal crept into a life, formed a bond strong enough, that the loss creates a hole in life. And soul.. Believe it or not, this is a good thing. For it shows that you are capable of giving and receiving love, in it's most pure form. You understand discipline. And commitment. And..the healing power of one fuzzy body, greeting you. Snuggling with you when you are ill, or sad. Dancing with you across the floor when you are happy. And not eating you in your sleep for that..demanding. Loving. Companion. What a wonderful gift. Blessed Be.

That is so positive. I think I have to figure out some way to save it so I see it often. Thank you.

It takes me 3 hours to mow my lawn ,so I tend to do it in sections. Last week when it was in the 90s and extremely humid I mowed half my back yard and took a break. I went out later and was finishing the other half when I noticed a riding lawnmower in my driveway. My neighbor was doing my front lawn for me. I was very grateful. As a thank you I cooked up a huge pot of Italian sausage in my homemade sauce and gave her half along with l some Italian bread.

That was a very Nice Time all around! We had Italian inspired fuds last night. I did sausage a peppers on hoagie rolls (which I had garlic toastified first) with provolone, topped with a bit of marinara and then finished with shaved parm. I made baked zucchini chips to go on the side. My mom isn't fond of Italian food, so if I want Italian inspired stuff, i gotta do it while she's gone.

Good Morning fine folk!!
I have a long post, sorry...
First of all, DoomsDayAardvark, the micromedic household wishes to extend their deepest sorrow at the loss of Kay. We send hugs of comfort, share your sorrow and there are gentle purrs and head bumps on their way to you! Kay is already missed.

hokay... now for the long post. Kitty kitty, our "house panther" bull rushed the back door about 2-3 months ago and was missing. I was sure he was close, but as time went by, my hope dimmed. I missed my kitty! On Wednesday night. after dark, mr. micromedic came into the house and insisted I go outside!! It was Kitty Kitty!!! He came back!! After some food, coaxing (a lot of coaxing) he came in to the house!! I am EXSTATIC!!! I just couldn't be mad.... I just wanted him back. Thank Bast!! (and all others, you choose!!) He is reaquainted with all and I'm a happy medic!

tigeroseHave a safe trip! I'm excited for you, and that is just the thing I'd love to do on a Satuday night, drive a kitteh to a new home, bless your heart.
John Buck 41- Your picture is something I look for along with BerthaMapes  badge, it's just the right way to start things off.
I thought it was John Buck 29 and holding! lol  P.S. Sherpa did a great job on the site this week, thumbs up!

Actually, if you want to make a financial gesture (and this goes for anybody in here who may feel this way), don't send money to me.  While Kay's final expenses are a hit, I'm glad to cover them myself as my duty as his "daddy."  It's tight, but I can do this.  Instead, see the donation links in my profile.  In less than a month, I'll be doing a pair of Kayak for a Cure events, raising money for the American Cancer Society, and Nationwide Children's Hospital's Pediatric Cancer Center in Columbus Ohio.  I'll personally feel much better having that money donated to a good cause, benefiting many people than having it buy me a bottle of scotch to toast a fallen friend.  I like to think it's what he'd have wanted if he'd understood what money was about.

DoomsDayAardvark: I have no words to express my sorrow at your loss. Caturday will not be the same without Sir Kay.

Alas, I understand it is bittersweet.  :(

As we share sorrow, let us celebrate the love and the good times.

As many of you are already aware, I have some very sad news to relate this week, but I'll relate the story for everyone.

Tuesday evening, my sweet little Kay began to yowl in pain, and then vomit.  He did this twice before he decided to go to his hidey-spot under the basement steps.  After a little while, he came out, looking like he didn't feel very good.  I was lying on the basement floor with him for a little while, when he yowled and vomited again.  At that point, I decided it was time to take him to the vet, but since it was after 10, his regular vet was closed.  Fortunately, I live quite close to a 24-hour emergency vet clinic.  He was admitted almost instantly.

They did some x-rays, and some other tests, and couldn't find anything definitive.  They gave him some anti-nausea medication, but it did nothing for him, so they decided they should keep him overnight for pain medication and observation.  I got home around 2 in the morning without him.  I snapped this pic as I said good night to him.

/side note...This woman is a  saint

Wednesday morning, I was awakened by a call from the emergency vet saying that Kay had taken a turn for the worse, and that I should come see him.  He hung on just long enough for me to get there, and have about 10 minutes to say goodbye.  I held his paw as he took his last breath and drifted away.

I spent much of the rest of the day sobbing.

For a long time, I've used writing as a coping technique.  I prepared this obituary for Kay to help myself through it.  (Don't everybody click that link at once -- my host probably can't take a farking).  It helped, but it still hurts.

Many of you have already written kind words on Facebook and in emails.  I cannot thank you all enough for the love and support you've shown me in the last few days.  There are so many of you that to try to list you all individually is doomed to failure -- the list of who hasn't expressed sympathy would be shorter, and I suspect due more to communication problems than sentiment.  You are all amazing people, and I thank you from the bottom of my broken heart for your kindness.

I will, however, single out  laulaja who tirelessly forwarded both my messages and all of yours back to me, and then surprised me with more totalfark than I can shake a stick at.  Thank you so much.  I'm humbled.

I know there's lots of sad this Caturday (and my heart is so broken for one in particular), so let me share my happy, in the hopes of putting smiles on some faces.

I am part of an online group known as Imagine Home, which allows kitties in one state to be adopted by someone far away.  This weekend I will pick up a very pretty kitty named Jade in my part of Ohio (she's coming from Staten Island), and drive her to Elyria, about an hour and a half away, where she will continue with someone else on her journey to her new home in Rock Island, IL.

It's my first transport, I am so excited to be part of such an awesome event.  You know you're a crazy cat person when your idea of a fun Saturday night is helping to get a kitty you don't know to his new home, with no compensation other than the happiness of the new owner.  Can't wait!

Ok, now on a happier note, Andi went back to the vet's yesterday. She has finally, FINALLY, broken the 2# mark. She's still under weight but catching up. She gained over 1# just in 3 weeks. They said she could take a long time to get to where she needs to be, if she gets there at all, but its progress. They were playing with her fat little belly and she kept running off of the exam table to the adjacent counter to try and get the treats. I think I should have named her black hole.

Probably saying "FEED ME"

This one...

...just got out of the hospital this afternoon. When I woke up yesterday morning was vomiting and had uncontrollable dia..diah..diar...squirts. Formal diagnosis was Impaction along with "Dietary Indiscretion." I think he may have gotten into some chicken grease. It was pretty scary, but they got things moving and he's doing well now. He's upstairs passed out on the couch. They said he was pretty stressed being there and I suspect he hasn't slept since yesterday morning.
