sharbear: Bathia_Mapes, sorry for the spelling. I'm a dunce. The funniest thing happened to us last night, hubby was fiddling in the garage and he noticed a strange man picking flowers from my patio, so he trotted over and said, hey those are my wifes flowers, you shouldn't do that! His response was "But they are so pretty". Well, John was all riled up about it and I said show me which guy it was, and I'll give him his own pot of flowers. Kill them with kindness. I was wondering why my flowers looked so....dismal lately. ha ha ha ha.
DoomsDayAardvark: As many of you are already aware, I have some very sad news to relate this week, but I'll relate the story for everyone.Tuesday evening, my sweet little Kay began to yowl in pain, and then vomit. He did this twice before he decided to go to his hidey-spot under the basement steps. After a little while, he came out, looking like he didn't feel very good. I was lying on the basement floor with him for a little while, when he yowled and vomited again. At that point, I decided it was time to take him to the vet, but since it was after 10, his regular vet was closed. Fortunately, I live quite close to a 24-hour emergency vet clinic. He was admitted almost instantly. They did some x-rays, and some other tests, and couldn't find anything definitive. They gave him some anti-nausea medication, but it did nothing for him, so they decided they should keep him overnight for pain medication and observation. I got home around 2 in the morning without him. I snapped this pic as I said good night to him.[i445.photobucket.com image 480x640]/side note...This woman is a saintWednesday morning, I was awakened by a call from the emergency vet saying that Kay had taken a turn for the worse, and that I should come see him. He hung on just long enough for me to get there, and have about 10 minutes to say goodbye. I held his paw as he took his last breath and drifted away.[i445.photobucket.com image 640x480]I spent much of the rest of the day sobbing. For a long time, I've used writing as a coping technique. I prepared this obituary for Kay to help myself through it. (Don't everybody click that link at once -- my host probably can't take a farking). It helped, but it still hurts. Many of you have already written kind words on Facebook and in emails. I cannot thank you all enough for the love and support you've shown me in the last few days. There are so many of you that to try to list you all individually is doomed to failure -- the list of who hasn't expresse ...
spinach gunk: Happy Caturday, everybuddy![spinachgunk.smugmug.com image 492x399]Alas, I understand it is bittersweet. :(As we share sorrow, let us celebrate the love and the good times.
The Ice Queen: Savarose: I know there's lots of sad this Caturday (and my heart is so broken for one in particular), so let me share my happy, in the hopes of putting smiles on some faces.I am part of an online group known as Imagine Home, which allows kitties in one state to be adopted by someone far away. This weekend I will pick up a very pretty kitty named Jade in my part of Ohio (she's coming from Staten Island), and drive her to Elyria, about an hour and a half away, where she will continue with someone else on her journey to her new home in Rock Island, IL.It's my first transport, I am so excited to be part of such an awesome event. You know you're a crazy cat person when your idea of a fun Saturday night is helping to get a kitty you don't know to his new home, with no compensation other than the happiness of the new owner. Can't wait! That's pretty cool! I'm a member of the Underground Kitty Railroad and they do something similar. I haven't done any transports though, they've only had one in my area but I already had a commitment that weekend and couldn't sign up.Its cool helping kitties get to their furrever homes :)
lilyspad: Morning all! Happy Friday!!!! WOOT!!!!! :D
micromedic: Good Morning fine folk!!I have a long post, sorry...First of all, DoomsDayAardvark, the micromedic household wishes to extend their deepest sorrow at the loss of Kay. We send hugs of comfort, share your sorrow and there are gentle purrs and head bumps on their way to you! Kay is already missed.hokay... now for the long post. Kitty kitty, our "house panther" bull rushed the back door about 2-3 months ago and was missing. I was sure he was close, but as time went by, my hope dimmed. I missed my kitty! On Wednesday night. after dark, mr. micromedic came into the house and insisted I go outside!! It was Kitty Kitty!!! He came back!! After some food, coaxing (a lot of coaxing) he came in to the house!! I am EXSTATIC!!! I just couldn't be mad.... I just wanted him back. Thank Bast!! (and all others, you choose!!) He is reaquainted with all and I'm a happy medic! The culprit:[imageshack.us image 850x637]

lilyspad: My next door neighbor is mowing his lawn....it's 5 am here. Can't say as I blame him, 'cuz it's supposed to be 100 here again today, but I bet the other neighbors are not too happy right now! :D
gremlin1: lilyspad: My next door neighbor is mowing his lawn....it's 5 am here. Can't say as I blame him, 'cuz it's supposed to be 100 here again today, but I bet the other neighbors are not too happy right now! :DIt takes me 3 hours to mow my lawn ,so I tend to do it in sections. Last week when it was in the 90s and extremely humid I mowed half my back yard and took a break. I went out later and was finishing the other half when I noticed a riding lawnmower in my driveway. My neighbor was doing my front lawn for me. I was very grateful. As a thank you I cooked up a huge pot of Italian sausage in my homemade sauce and gave her half along with l some Italian bread.
tigerose: Whenever we have a sad, or series of same, remember that some animal crept into a life, formed a bond strong enough, that the loss creates a hole in life. And soul.. Believe it or not, this is a good thing. For it shows that you are capable of giving and receiving love, in it's most pure form. You understand discipline. And commitment. And..the healing power of one fuzzy body, greeting you. Snuggling with you when you are ill, or sad. Dancing with you across the floor when you are happy. And not eating you in your sleep for that..demanding. Loving. Companion. What a wonderful gift. Blessed Be.
Lsherm: Not to distract from DoomsDayAardvark's loss, but I had two pics prepared for Caturday and I'm working on the actual caturday. This might seem callous, my apologies.Bob hates Dexter (the show), but she's nice otherwise:[img827.imageshack.us image 700x580]Blue is still plotting to kill me:[img59.imageshack.us image 600x800]
Savarose: seems to be a lot of Buckeye Caturdayers.
DoomsDayAardvark: Savarose: seems to be a lot of Buckeye Caturdayers.Yeah, I was noticing that, too. Seems The Ice Queen even works at the shelter where I adopted Kay.On another note, I'll be at the state fair this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon up to my thighs in the kayak pond helping kids (and probably a few adults) learn how to kayak.
The Ice Queen: quantum_jellyroll: [reneau.smugmug.com image 800x600]I think we're going to have a tennis match here......
The Ice Queen: Does he have to go on a special diet or something for now?
tigerose: sherpa18: yobbery: This one......just got out of the hospital this afternoon. When I woke up yesterday morning was vomiting and had uncontrollable dia..diah..diar...squirts. Formal diagnosis was Impaction along with "Dietary Indiscretion." I think he may have gotten into some chicken grease. It was pretty scary, but they got things moving and he's doing well now. He's upstairs passed out on the couch. They said he was pretty stressed being there and I suspect he hasn't slept since yesterday morning.Ack! Glad he's doing better! Good reminder that despite their reputation as "picky eaters", some cats are garbage disposals./ trust me, i know, i live with the bottomless pit, aka the white boy// just out of curiosity, can one be "impacted" while suffering the squirts?[i415.photobucket.com image 500x352]Actually yes..the bowels will liquify that which cannot be passed..by passing the obstruction.
The Ice Queen: So here is my sad, sucky CaturdayMy uncle apparently has cancer and it pretty much shows up in his stomach, lungs, liver, and esophagus. Had some biopsies done so they could a) have definte Dx of cancer and b) see if they can figure out the origin tumor and type to know how to treat. Well, surgeon's office apparently said that the biopsies were negative. His MD didn't think it sounded right so was able to track down the actual path report. Um, yeah, weren't negative, the surgeon got crappy samples and the path lab had nothing to work with. Think there is a definite difference between negative and poor sample to test. So he has to go through that portion all over again. Nice huh :(
Spinnyr: Dang it! This insert is only four days old![i975.photobucket.com image 850x637]

The whole family loves it! I keep thinking we need another one. Used would be great. I want one that is a bit smaller..for me. Easier to launch? We store the kayak on saw horses, down by the water, and the paddle upstairs..
