Him.Srsly.I had Persians and after I took them to the vet and had them shaved down to about 1/4" they perked up and didn't suffer the heat.It also reduced hairball events drastically. It got to the point where they were so more comfortable, they even liked to get baths. Not kidding.

catmandu: since the financial troubles started
catmandu: OK folks, i need a bit of advice. I have been feeding my cats Purina Indoor formula for a couple of years (since the financial troubles started). Mandu has suddenly decided that he no longer likes it so he rarely eats but scratches the rug to cover the bowl. At first, I thought he was just in a mood, but it has been going on for a couple of weeks and he has actually lost weight, not enough to be dangerous since he was a little thicker than ideal, but enough to be noticeable. Mika has no problem with the food. I would like some recommendations for inexpensive food that is still reasonably good. I feed my cats dry kibble free-choice.[i283.photobucket.com image 720x960]
tigerose: Well just back from my singing gig. Eli was still on the porch where I left him, 2hrs ago. :) now he is taking a very loud and slurpy bath on the couch. Keeping me in his sights, just in case I get some noms to go wif my wine..yeah I know it is early..I am celebrating a wedding...
ruetheday69: I noticed there are a lot of Ohio-based Farkers who are also involved in cat rescue. I have a small problem. A few months ago a stray cat that lives around my apt building had a litter of 4 kittens. I'd like to grab two of them for myself and figure out what to do with the others, which includes the mother and the big tom who is the probable father. None of them will let me near them but I have been leaving out food and hanging around the food and am seeing some progress there. They seem in general good health other than being hungry. Any advice would be appreciated.

Various folk On Rolls earlier today, in2it for one. Having more Editing issues -- one of sometime contribs just handed me another article for Aug event that fortunately there's room for. I'd forgot entirely a late Sept event that'll require road trip from here; tells me It's Time to rid self of e-Libraries & move it all back into old-drive-letter Copy (F & G mostly -- F's radio, chorus & other, G's almost all feline). & Do Believe I did get EchoLink re-installed, so I can get on Aussie YL net again next Sat! yay

logieal: A CHALLENGER APPEARS[i521.photobucket.com image 640x480]She's got a better mustache. Plus she super friendly and a bit of an attention whore. Doesn't matter if you just showed up and are jumping off the walls. She wants to meet you and have you pet her.Plus her name is Stache. So there's that.[i521.photobucket.com image 640x481][i521.photobucket.com image 640x481]She's the exact opposite of a fraidy cat.Of course, right now she looks a little funny because we shaved her down except for her tail, of which she's very proud, because the dog we have likes to drag her around by the scruff around her neck and it makes her all matted.[i521.photobucket.com image 850x478]But she doesn't mind, or at least if she does, she doesn't do anything about it other than jumping up on the couch or over to the side of the house where the dog can't go. I think I've only heard her hiss once. And that was when she was super scared because there were 3 dogs fighting over her (two Minpins and our Doxie). Our 1.5 year old has literally used her as a play mat and I've seen him purposely fall on her because he thinks it's funny. We of course tell him no, but that hardly helps when the cat doesn't mind and won't leave.
DoomsDayAardvark: As many of you are already aware, I have some very sad news to relate this week, but I'll relate the story for everyone.Tuesday evening, my sweet little Kay began to yowl in pain, and then vomit. He did this twice before he decided to go to his hidey-spot under the basement steps. After a little while, he came out, looking like he didn't feel very good. I was lying on the basement floor with him for a little while, when he yowled and vomited again. At that point, I decided it was time to take him to the vet, but since it was after 10, his regular vet was closed. Fortunately, I live quite close to a 24-hour emergency vet clinic. He was admitted almost instantly. They did some x-rays, and some other tests, and couldn't find anything definitive. They gave him some anti-nausea medication, but it did nothing for him, so they decided they should keep him overnight for pain medication and observation. I got home around 2 in the morning without him. I snapped this pic as I said good night to him.[i445.photobucket.com image 480x640]/side note...This woman is a saintWednesday morning, I was awakened by a call from the emergency vet saying that Kay had taken a turn for the worse, and that I should come see him. He hung on just long enough for me to get there, and have about 10 minutes to say goodbye. I held his paw as he took his last breath and drifted away.[i445.photobucket.com image 640x480]I spent much of the rest of the day sobbing. For a long time, I've used writing as a coping technique. I prepared this obituary for Kay to help myself through it. (Don't everybody click that link at once -- my host probably can't take a farking). It helped, but it still hurts. Many of you have already written kind words on Facebook and in emails. I cannot thank you all enough for the love and support you've shown me in the last few days. There are so many of you that to try to list you all individually is doomed to failure -- the list of who hasn't expresse ...
