Thank you. For me, a turn of a phrase comes naturally, so I really do not think I am doing anything extraordinary. It is like singing for me..it's not a choice but an imperitive..I literally have to sing and to write..and eat icecream..and drink some wine..but not both at the same time..eww! :)

Yeah, I am a little wierd..

tigerose: yobbery call teh vet and tell him the side effects. There might be something else they can use. If i am not mistaken, that med is for gram negative bacteria, which arr notoriously hard to knock out.

We thought about it, but he wasn't showing any signs of infection. I'll give them a call in the morning if he doesn't seem better.
Update: He just came by for a quick pet! I think he's going to be fine.

I'd believe that. I grew up around the head waters of the Scioto River and it gives me the creeps when I see stories on the news of people swimming in it in South Columbus :(------

I know what you mean as far as the turn of a phrase remark. Mine comes audibly, not so much in text but same principle, I guess. Cheers!

yobbery: Question: Does anyone else have bad luck with giving their cat Flagyl (Metronidazole)? Seems like every cat I've ever given it to becomes ill.

While I don't think I have ever used that one, I have had mixed results over the years with many others, particularly Clavamox (damn, that stuff is nasty). Although the white one has only needed an antibiotic once or twice I opted for the Convenia shot, which for those of you who might be unfamiliar with it, is a broad spectrum antibiotic injection that lasts up to 4 weeks. Easier for me, and less stress for both of us (but not cheap). Just my 2¢.

sherpa18: Does anyone else have bad luck with giving their cat Flagyl

I've never had to give it to a cat, but I've had to take it myself.  When I had diverticulitis a few years ago, I was on an IV with that and another one (can't remember the name) and morphine.  After I got out of the hospital, I still had to take that and the other one orally for almost 2 weeks.  I didn't have many side effects, other than just feeling totally crappy overall.  On the bad side....you can't drink alcohol while on those meds, or you will get deathly ill.  For me, that was the hardest part!!!!  Lilyspad is not happy without her beers!!!!  :D

I know I've mentioned how Juno will eat pretty much anything, but tonight she even surprised me. I set down my mostly eaten plate of Palak Paneer and she finished it off. I had eaten all the cheese so she ate only the spicy spinach. She is truly a very strange cat.

This was my foster beastie, who I am calling Lil' Bit - they named him Hype, and that just wasn't working for me - on the day I brought him home.  I'd gotten a call to foster a kitty who needed eye drops for just a couple of weeks.  They said he was five weeks old - they typically spay / neuter at 2 pounds, and I guess they were optimistic he'd be fat and healthy by then, as he only weighed 15 ounces at the time.

lh3.googleusercontent.com

When I arrived to pick him up, they told me he also had coccidia, which is horribly nasty shiat, and was on Albon in addition to the Tobramycin drops.  We kept that up for 10 days, during which the poor little guy was quarantined to be sure he didn't share his parasites with my kitties.  Poor guy got lots of baths to clean him up, and his first forays out of the big dog crate was to go out and sun himself in the back yard - he loved it!

lh4.googleusercontent.com

Ten days after he arrived, we took him back in to see the shelter vet - he still had all the symptoms of coccidia, and I'd managed to get my hands on a tube of Marquis paste to treat him if needed, but his stool sample was negative.  At that point, though, he'd not gained any weight and they put him on Flagyl, Clavamox, Forti Flora and NutriCal and told me that it looked like a sad case of failure to thrive and the vets weren't hopeful he'd pull through.
