There's still no evidence the drug works in humans, and this study's researchers say they won't be involved in human trials. But they're hoping pharmaceutical investigators won't be resistant to the idea.

Gotta love geek humor :-)

As someone pointed out years ago...bleach is an effective agent against HIV and many other viruses and bacteria. However, we don't want to go around injecting people with bleach.

I always thought anthrax wasn't that hard to kill, you just had to figure out you had anthrax before you got deathly ill.

This is true, or so I am told, so I keep a sharp eye because I want to grow old.

You'll probably need yogurt enemas or fecal transplants after taking the stuff, if they ever make it into a medicine.  "Well, I beat MSRA, but my colon fell out.  You win some, you lose some."

I wonder how many doctors got calls from helicopter parents today demanding this antibiotic because their kids have a runny nose?

Best show I've ever seen remains Public Enemy/Anthrax Bring the Noise tour at the former Mammoth Events Center in Denver.

Primus opened.

Presidents of the United States of America was the opening opening act, but they sucked.

It wont for very long if it is prescribed to/demanded by every hypochondriac for anything/everything.

Then we will have GorGor bacteria

So strong it can kill anthrax.

So scientists are giving Cipro HGH and Steroids, and making him lift weights?

2013-07-25 04:49:41 PM

beaverfetus: they re-discovered cipro?

Bacteria can become resistant to quinolone drugs like cipro with a single aa change to the gyrase enzyme.  The mutation also causes no penalty, so resistant strains don't bother to revert to the sensitive when the drug pressure is removed.  It will be all but ineffective soon.

I am sure it would kill bacteria in humans as well.

Whether or not it kills the human at the same time is the question.

Meanwhile, Metallicaitis is still running rampant.

It was much more powerful when it first appeared, but it's become a festering wound. Symptoms of Metallicaitis include whining, sobriety and general douchbaggery. It seemed to hit the drummer hardest. The singer has a touch that flairs up once in a while. Both guitarists seem unaffected however.

Someone once told me Keith Richards was so invincible he could probably snort anthrax and survive. My response was "the problem with snorting anthrax is that Scott Ian's beard tickles your nose and you keep sneezing them back out."

21 years before it hits clinical trials.
23 years before it's approved for human use.
24 years before it's inclusion in every major brand of hand soap, dental floss, diaper bag, facial tissue, and spray on tan solution renders it ineffective against 95% of the bacteria population.

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that their bass player/lead singer (Tom Araya) LIVES!! The bad news is It's one of their guitar players (Jeff Hanneman) that died.
