This is getting silly.  While I have no doubts there are stupid people out there that think this whole accident was staged, and I have no doubts there are crazy idiots out there making threats, I in no way believe that there are "roving packs" of either side (though I think subby kind of messed up what theoretical side would be upset about Zimmerman helping people).

It's like how Fox News and a good number of Fark closet racists were predicting riots of massive proportions, and what happened was completely not in line with their reality.  That didn't happen, so now it's all about these nebulous groups of angry thugs wanting to kill Zimmerman and anyone who he bumps into on the street that they can never seem to catch on camera.

Were people upset with the verdict?  Yes, as was I.  Are there the occasional crazy out there that would be willing to end Zimmerman for some idiot idea of justice?  Sure.  Does that constitute the majority or even a large portion of the people upset by the verdict?  Of course not.

Why do I keep answering my questions?  I don't know.  Should I stop now?  About two paragraphs ago, yes.

If it hadn't been Zimmerman would they have held a press conference?  If the answer is no, then it should have been cancelled.

Just because a well-known person is involved in something doesn't mean the press needs to be there.

2013-07-25 09:10:25 AM
I'm not sure that I understand why on earth they were planning to hold a news conference anyway.

Pretty much.  If anything it lends to the rather idiotic conspiracy theory that this was a planned stunt.  Just let this be what it is.

What?  This went green?  Ok, well, Mods, can you at least switch it from "pro-Zimmerman" to "anti-Zimmerman" so the headline actually makes sense?

I'm not sure why the whole Zimmerman thing made national media.

Actually I am sure of why that happened.

That's actually not funny because it's true. Just for the record I hate Fox News and everything it stands for.

Buuuuut, the left is as bad as the right. They're witch hunters and they will find their witch, even if it's not a witch at all.

To be fair, we do find it when we look on Fox.

I honestly don't think I can throw down in yet another Zimmerman thread.  So I'll grant that there are liberals who do that.  Ruins it for the rest of us, can't have nice things, yadda yadda.  But I do think it's funny (weird and hypocritical, not ha ha) that Fox is looking for violent race-based behavior everywhere while claiming liberals look for racism everywhere.

But on this topic specifically?  Glad those people are OK and agree with the others above in wondering why they *should* be interviewed for this.

Since it was Zimmerman's attorneys who worked with the couple on holding the news conference I'm going to go with no....

2013-07-25 09:40:16 AM
I heard the President personally called them and demanded they stop the conference or else he would dispatch Seal Team 6 to kill the entire family and any one related to them for at least 6 generations as well as all their friends and their relations.  Then he would have a C 130 fly over their dead bodies and drop a daisy cutter for good measure because he can't let out anything good about The Z man.

2013-07-25 09:40:18 AM
George Zimmerman would be shook as shiat if he was ever without his gun.  He has to live with being a pussy.

2013-07-25 09:40:27 AM
The U.S. Department of Justice has taken all the evidence from the trial, including the gun that killed Martin, as part of a civil rights investigation. But even if authorities eventually decide to give the gun back to Zimmerman, O'Mara said it should be destroyed

I thought guns didn't kill people, people killed people. So why is this little fellow paying the ultimate price? Relax, little one. You'll soon be Heaven shooting angels(*).

Plus, the gun that shot Lee Harvey Oswad is still walking around, shooting people.

That's a popular comment, but the Middletons aren't closely related to the House of Windsor. She's a commoner, for cryi, and you have to go back 12 generations to find a common ancestor (which is probably true of any two random people in the UK). Between she, Fergie and Diana, there's been quite a lot of non-blue blood injected into the Royal Family of late.

Yeah, I mean it wouldn't have had anything to do with the loads of people on various social media outlets flat out saying they would riot right?
No clearly Fox news and "closet racists" made it all up in their heads.

Some people were suggesting that the whole accident was staged so that Zimmerman would get praised as a hero so maybe there were going to have a press conference to put an end to that.

The problem is that they just want to be left alone and the press is hounding them. This conference would be to make an official statement and get the vultures to move on to the next carcass.

A)  I'd love to see a cite for these stories predicting "massive" riots.
B) I'd love to see the part of the story about group of angry thugs.  What the story said:  "...they were advised by family and friends that they really shouldn't get involved with anything to do with George Zimmerman..."  That's it.

Nothing about "we wuz worried about crowds of nigras chasing us down and raping our women" -- but I have no doubt that that is how you interpreted "shouldn't get involved".

Yeah, that's my read of it. There were photos of the dad literally standing on his porch and yelling at the press to get off his lawn. I'm sure O'Mara wants people publicly saying good things about his client as well.

That family does not seem happy to be thrust into the spotlight by random chance.

This wasn't submitted from those sources.  And Fox does this stuff all the time.  If the other sources made a deliberate habit of it like Fox I'd call them hypocritical, too.

The family asked for privacy.  Now their pics (including their little kids) are all over the net.  The father looks like he's about to become unhinged on his driveway in an incoherent rant at the media.

O'Mara is in the middle of it all, stirring up everyone from white supremacists to pundits.

Zimmerman has the lead touch wherever he goes.  It's almost like... almost like... he should let professionals handle it or something.
