Get over it.  12 Monkeys was a stupid movie.  Not enough death and killing.  SyFy just wants to make good movies.  So stop ruining the fun for those of us who never actually watched 12 Monkeys.  The movie happened like 40 years ago.  Movies sucked back then because they focused so hard on telling a story.  No one cares about your life story.  I want to see explosions, you idiots.  So stop telling me how I should watch the original instead of the remake.  If the original was so good, then why are they making a remake?  It's not about money.  It's about proving how old movies were crap.  Deal with it.  #dealwithit

This would be OK, except it will have a budget of $7.00 and will be shot on a couple of Handicams bought on Craigslist.

One of my favorite movies of all time is about to be ruined. Well, the movie won't be ruined, but this series will suck. I bet it comes out less like "Twelve Monkeys" and more like "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure."

What? Remake, inevitably poorly, my favourite Bruce Willis movie? (It's because he's getting constantly beaten to a pulp, frankly.)

If only I could time-travel and abort the fetuses of the decision-makers...I wouldn't stop.

Well, with $7.00 and a couple of Handicams, you could easily remake La Jete, which is the original story anyway.

This just sounds bad no matter who does it. It just won't work as a weekly series.

Meanwhile something original like the Fades dies after one season.

Not cool.   12 Monkeys is one of my favorite movies.  Great acting, smart directing, interesting story.

Terry Gilliam's Science-Fiction Classic '12 Monkeys' To Become A SyFy Original Series

Why? What was the original movie unable to tell? What was left open-ended, waiting for a TV series to come along? Seems like it wrapped it up in a nice package, left everyone feeling satisfied, and had no real room for a sequel, let alone a TV series...

2013-07-25 11:34:28 AM
Actually, this will never happen. No sharks involved.

2013-07-25 11:37:33 AM
I love the movie but I did not know Gilliam directed.... the movie seems way too normal to have Gilliam as a director.

When will they release Hurrisnake? Or Octaquake?

There's a bunch of stuff involving the future under-ground prison, how people lived in future when the air was infected, time travel stuff and whatnot. But, yeah, the original is good as it is and a SyFy series based on the original would suck.

All the stuff that made the Army of the 12 Monkeys infamous, and thus put them under suspicion to start with. That said this will still be Syfy and that's all we need to say.

Rand's lacy underwear: All the stuff that made the Army of the 12 Monkeys infamous, and thus put them under suspicion to start with. That said this will still be Syfy and that's all we need to say.

That was covered in the movie. It wasn't the Army of the Twelve Monkeys that launched the virus, and once that was launched, the end was inevitable.

2 fundamental questions here:

1. Why can SciFi do shows so well(Eureka, Warehouse 13, BSG), yet can't do movies?
2. Why can't they actually handle it when one of their shows becomes a hit? With BSG, they went on long breaks between seasons, split a season in half, waited forever to tell you if there was going to even be a next season. With Eureka, they cancel it at the height of its popularity. I'm scared what's going to happen with Warehouse 13, are they going to hire ninjas to come onto the set and kill the actors themselves on live TV? It seems like a natural progression for the channel...

Mikey1969: I'm scared what's going to happen with Warehouse 13,

First of all, I'm pretty much addicted to the show.... BUT, it seems like they can get away with just about anything on that show and the fans will keep coming back, I'm one of them. I really wanted to stop watching when it turned out H.G. Wells was a female super-villain who had been "bronzed" for the past however many decades but I still came back... I don't know why. I might need help.

They should have Josh Wedon make it and recast the Bruce WIllis role with a hot young female actress who's tougher than she looks.

I keep coming back because I know Claudia will one day develop tech to turn my TV into a transmitter, after which she will "discover" me and whisk me away... I think my wife has come to terms with this...

/Thought the Eureka/WH 13 crossovers were some of the most fun TV I've ever seen..

Hate to break it to ya, but the Warehouse is getting closed down. They're airing a half season next year to finish the series off and that's it.

Well, that's better than the decision they made on Eureka...

Although a half season is bullshiat. What is really stupid on their part is the fact that I don't watch their moronic movies, so I won't have the channel on after that to find out about their next show, so they're going to lose viewers that way. Who really turns on SciFi anymore hoping to "discover" a new series they hadn't heard of in advance?

and 12 Monkeys is already a remake of La Jetée

Bunch, R-Williamsburg, was initially cited by Lexington police for going 109 mph as she was traveling on Interstate 75. The speed limit is 70 mph.

WOW, lots of places, that gets you a reckless driving charge that can count as a felony...

Based on a chart setting out the fines in Kentucky, Bunch admitted to traveling 19 mph over the posted speed limit.

I'm sorry, a "chart"? Do we all get to use this "chart"?

Bunch added that while she was speeding, she could not say exactly how fast she was going. However, she claims she was going with the flow of traffic.

Bull

Shiat,

Lady

On her Facebook page and in a later interview, Bunch emphasized that she would plead guilty and pay the ticket.

"I want to be treated like everybody else," Bunch said.

"I don't think I'm above the law or anything."

Which means that she isn't going to pay the fine normal folk would have to pay, she isn't going to get her license suspended like normal folk would, and she gets to choose how fast she was going, completely unlike normal folk.

Fark this lady. What a coont.

If you add an asphalt eating giant earthworm to that story, Bonnie Hammer would approve it as an original Siffy movie.

I just don't understand WHY it needs a remake. It's not even 20 years old, the tech doesn't look extremely dated, it's not originally a British movie that needs to be dumbed down for a U.S. audience, the first one was just fine.

No, I meant La Jete - the story of a time traveling ballerina who attempts to stop the 1913 premiere of The Rite of Spring.

yes he did

assuming you mean Munchausen, yes he did

Obviously I was referring to screenplays.  He didn't write Grimm, but it also doesn't feel totally like a Gilliam film.  Because he didn't write it.

I loved how completely unhinged Brad Pitt seemed in that movie. He really got them crazy eyes down.
