Right where I thought they'd find him.before I even read TFA...quarantined in Hawaii, probably at the state department of Ag.

United provided this statement by phone: "We didn't provide him the service he would have liked and we aim to offer to our customers. We went ahead and refunded him that fee."

"We're very sorry we got publicly shamed after we lost your dog and tried to ignore you until you just went away here please have your money back and leave us alone."

Twats.

buzzcut73: quarantined in Hawaii

There's no quarantine for animals originating from Guam because it's designated a rabies free zone.

It sounds like the airline farked up and either didn't process or pass along the necessary paperwork or they put the dog on the wrong flight and sent him to Hawaii instead of California.

Looks like a pit bull.  The kennel should have been dropped over the Pacific Ocean.

Fortunately, he no longer needs to worry about whether the island will tip over.

GPS trackers are affordable these days. If you ship an animal, include one in its crate.

You'll be able to track your dog all the way to the spot where the bomb squad blows him up right before the FBI kicks your door in and arrests you for trying to bomb the plane.

Finally friends suggested the couple call 7 On Your Side. They did, and 7 On Your Side contacted United and within hours, the airlline was able to locate Congo.

So the airline ignored the man until the media put pressure on them. Is ANYONE here surprised by this? Anyone at all?

I am.  That is, I'm surprised the acted at all.
I would put pontoons on my Crown Vic and paddle home before flying United.

Yeah, I drive a Crown.  Because I'm King Sh*t of the Seven F*cking Seas, that's why.

I would say that's what he gets for flying united.

Hey, United refunded the fee.  Are they still angry that the dog was stuck in some cargo holding facility in Hawaii?  Jeez, what do they want an apology?

It's not like you have a lot of choice when coming from Guam. It is United or....shiat. That's it, just United.
I guess if you want to get creative in your booking (fly JAL to NRT and book a separate ticket between NRT and the US) you could, but if you just want to get from GUM to the mainland without all the customs BS, you have to fly United, and will fly via HNL and IAH, because that is the only flight.

Forgot that.   The few times i've been there was from SEA through KIX on Delta and had to sit there the better part of a day as a layover.

I used to work for Pinnacle Airlines (regional carrier for Northworst).  The incoming flight manifest showed the live animal bin to be empty, no mention of a pet........ then again I didn't DOUBLE-CHECK....

"several United employees went above and beyond to help find Congo"

They lost him right? So they did their job and found him? How is that above and beyond? Simply because they didn't kill him?
