FarkUs, where good causes go to die...

Donated, but wouldn't hurt to see this go main page instead.

Are you serious?
Having lost my mom 6 days ago, I was going to throw in $50 in her name (she gave over a grand a year to animal charities), but I could picture her hitting me in the head with her wooden spaghetti spoon if I did such a stupid thing.
If you need money to replace your stuff, fine, maybe I'll chip in, but that's one hell of a maybe.
Se hable insurance?
I've contributed to many burial funds, medical expense funds, etc for fellow Farkers, but this is really pushing it.
Perhaps you should take out an ad on Craigs List.

I love dogs, and have sponsored, rescued, and fostered very very many dogs in need.
One is sitting in my lap right now.
Do you have any idea of how many dogs could be saved for that amount of money?

You have balls, I'll give you that much, but only that much.

Most Torontans are barely human, all the more reason to donate.

I do believe the $40,000 figure is an absurdly high number arbitrarily put there so that the 'goal' isn't reached early. The final vet bill won't be known for awhile and the individual involved has indicated that every single dollar over the vet bills will be donated to the humane society. They don't want anything for their personal belongings lost, only help for their bud. That works for me, donation is in.

Didn't the Toronto Humane Society get busted for animal cruelty a couple years ago?

Under $100

CraicBaby: Didn't the Toronto Humane Society get busted for animal cruelty a couple years ago?

Yes. But they underwent a major restructuring and got rid of the old board, and it's an entirely changed place. I fostered kittens in the bad days and stopped because it was so horrible (I had kittens I brought back there die, and they didn't even bother letting me know or returning my phone calls - which would have been kind of important since I still had their 2 siblings, their mother, and my own .) It was a horrible, filthy, disorganised, hostile place and I ended up paying for food, supplies, and medications since they never had the supplies.

Pressed send too soon - anyway, I started fostering again and now they're much, much better. It's less crowded, they have the necessary supplies, and they take good care of the animals.

I'm a dog lover but the family lost everything and we're focused on the dog's issues?

How is the dog brave for hiding from smoke?

If he pulled a baby from the fire, sure, or if he had the good sense to shake a cat until it died, absolutely, but hiding?

Sorry, I have beer to buy.

You guys are harsh.  I think it's dusty in here.

AverageAmericanGuy: Under $100

That was what I was thinking. People really need to seriously look at all cheaper alternatives.

I love my dog very much. But if his vet bills were going to be 40 large, I'd have to consider euthenasia as a more viable alternative.

Seriously, $40,000 is stupidly high.  -1
