She is definitely the most under-rated actress at the moment, to pull of 7 different characters with such range and personality is brilliant.

Pretty easy on the eyes too

I agree, the show itself is incredibly solid as well.  It got off to a bit of a slow start, but that just made the payoff towards the end of the season that much more satisfying because they'd taken the time to build up to it.  It's easily one of the best shows on TV that hasn't quite broken into the mainstream consciousness yet.

When she plays one clone impersonating another clone it is really something to behold.

Mmmmm... 3 Tatianas...

I didn't even initially realize that Helena was played by the same actress - her range is really incredible.

Does she wear fatsuits like Eddie Murphy?

Clone playing a clone disguised as another clone?

Suburban mom clone is the hot one in that trio.

Yeah, we forgot that when we decided to sacrifice the show because we were following too many at once. I wonder if I've thrown the episodes away yet? I also forgot how hot she was.

Wow, that must take forever.  They're effectively shooting each take three or four times.  They did manage to pick the one scene where I thought they did a poor job of motion matching, though.  When Sarah swats Alison's arm away they don't really seem to connect.  It might not be the only error, but that's the only time I ever got pulled out of the show by it.

And I'll just agree with everyone else that Tatiana is remarkably talented.

I don't know why this is explained as such a mystery, the over the shoulder stuff totally standard, and the motion control stuff is high tech, but also pretty common now in editing effects software.

2 similar technologies:

1. You can remove something from a video sequence using a BorisFX plugin, let's a say a car crossing through an intersection. First, you mark a frame at the beginning without the car, then mark one at the end without the car, then draw a box around the car itself. It basically just figures out that since the car is the only thing changing position in the sequence, it will take it out, and has footage of the background to place back in.

2. Photoshop has a feature that I didn't even know about where you could take 9 or 10 pics of some tourist attraction, and it compares them all, figures out what has changed and what has stayed the same, and takes out everything that changes, so unless you have someone sitting still at this tourist attraction, it will take all of the people out.

The Orphan Black thing is just really doing the reverse of these. It has the empty room to use as a baseline, so it knows what has changed and is able to cut her out in each frame and then combine the whole mess. It's pretty standard in today's world of effects. It's still cool, though.

I assume they simply hired triplets, just like they did for Harry Potter and X-Men.

I will watch the show and see the different clone characters and forget that they are one actress even though I know it is the case.  She's putting in a remarkable performance.

I"m gratified to see the love for the actress who has managed to pull off this wide range of characters in such a tight show. It really is amazing and deserves tons of credit for making it work. We've all seen less talented actors mess up attempts to portray more than one version of themselves onscreen, but I never really notice that all of these girls are actually ONE person while watching the show.

This actress is a real treasure, and the show is really solid entertainment.

And they only have to pay her once.

Yeah, or in HD.

Jeez- it's like subby never saw The Patty Duke Show or Full House. This technology is so good that when Full House ended they decided to keep the charade  going IRL. Mary Kate is the real one, Ashley is a holograph. She's currently dating Tupac. TMZ knows the truth, but the guy who played Rimmer from Red Dwarf is paying them off to keep the upcoming CGI-twinpocalypse under wraps. When you're being chased down the street by a holographic army of cackling CGI Doublemint spokesmodels don't sat I didn't warn you.

I agree with your opinion on a poor shot to pick for a demonstration, but for a different reason: while adding those elements together was pretty decent, they sorta forgot to actually have left-version be shadowed by right-version. Bit of a goof up there.

Exactly. How she didn't get an Emmy nomination is beyond me. BAFTA?

/Reminded me of Billy West playing The Professor, Fry, and Zoidberg at 4 different ages in the same episode, all shot out of order.

OK I just watched the first episode. How did I miss this one? I'll be busy for the next couple of days.

If only they used this technology for porn. The possibilities would be awesome.

I started on OB at episode one and was hooked. Just the idea of the clones was amazing tech and I wanted to know where they were going to take the show. Over the course of the season I just got more and more hooked.

The only thing that bothered me throughout the whole season was trying to figure out how they copyrighted an illegal process.

I assumed it was preemptive.  I would imagine that an organization with those resources that is willing to murder to protect its secrets has probably spread some cash around Washington.

Next question: How come she only got naked in the first episode? I need more of that,

They copyrighted their genetic code, not the cloning process. Though that might be patented as well (for non-human cloning).
