Women aged 20-29 were nearly 29 pounds heavier on average in 2002 compared to 1960.
Women aged 40-49 were about 25½ pounds heavier on average in 2002 compared to 1960.
Women aged 60-74 were about 17½ pounds heavier on average in 2002 compared to 1960.

Is there some sort of strict oversight via a controlling agency on the actual specifications of cup size? Because from what I understand of women's fashion, the actual dimensions of identically defined sizes can vary widely from company to company and store to store.

Cup size is the difference between the measurement of your chest just below your breasts and the measurement around your breasts. It's not actually got anything to do with how big your breasts are. It's pretty standard but different companies cut differently. It's like shoes that way.

I don't know if you're wanting to use the tag Cool here, Subby. I'll bet this directly correlates to people getting fatter than ever.

So standard sizing in women's wearables are just ... guidelines and are not objectively useful.
This does not surprise me, it being womens' clothes.

I'm not going to go fishing around for this, but what about heights? I know latinas are dragging down the average but an extra inch of height could add a few pounds. Also, latinas are raising the BMI in the at 20-29 group. They put on the baby weight and proceed to have another baby instead of losing the baby weight.

I'm guessing any of these:  Obesity, Implants, Hormones in food, or the genetic influence of changing race demographics.

A girl I work with (no I'm not posting pictures) wears a 32G. Natural. When I was in my anorexic stage, I still wore 30C, and I had like zero body fat anywhere except the boobs. I probably could have gotten away with a smaller band size if I could have found one that still had C cups.

I blame the South. It's the humidity, makes our boobs swell.

No, they actually are very useful. Instead of trying on every bra in the store, you try on the ones you like in your size. You tend to figure out pretty quickly which companies cut well for your shape and after that, you don't even have to try them on. Unless you gain or lose enough weight that you change shape. Then you just get measured again and start anew. It's just that most women don't get fitted so they have no idea what size they actually are.

That's kind of a subjective approximation.  You should probably pass that evidence along to a professional to make a more objective decision.

This. If cup size is changing, but band size is not, then that does not imply obesity.

Article also gives a different explanation:
Instead of forcing D+ breasts into A to D cup bras, women are beginning to purchase larger cup sizes (G cup, for example) that actually fit properly,' a spokesperson said to Racked.
Compared to twenty years ago, 'the American market carried less than 20 sizes, so women with bigger breasts squeezed into bras that were two or more cup sizes too small.'

Boob size comparison is silly. I hear women all the time complain their self-esteem is low because of their breast size, so they get implants. They say people would make fun of them for being flat chested. You know what that means? You hang out with assholes. Try hanging out with non-assholes and your breast size will be a non-issue.

I have B's and have never had trouble dating or finding decent men. Most men value things other than a huge rack. I've found breast size to be similar men's penis size for most people...larger is a nice perk, but in no way a deal breaker.

Amen there.  My wife always tells me that she has considered implants (she has B's), but I told why waste the money.  She looks fantastic as is and the whole 'fake' look has become a turnoff since everyone and their mother has them.

At least you're ridiculously below average in so many other physical dimensions that cup size kinda gets lost in the big picture.
