s1ugg0: Does anyone else not care who other people are farking or is it just me?

I'm usually not a fan of witchhunts based on a person's private life, but this is a special case.  He already went through hell once and didn't have the sense or the self control to stop himself from doing it again a year later, or at least doing it more discreetly.

Making the same exact mistake twice shows poor judgment.

Headso: mongbiohazard: Looking at it another way... HE was also a willing participant, 25 years older than this 22 year old woman, and had already resigned from congress in shame after doing the same goddamn thing before and pretending to make amends to his wife, and pretending to learn from the experience.

unless I am missing something this happened in the past and is coming out now, the headline implies that it was new but the article seems to imply that this is just old stuff that hasn't surfaced until now...

You are missing something.
Yes, everything happened in the past.  They aren't reporting something that happened in the future.

This happened months after his resignation and tearful confession and statements that he is going to work on the healing process with his wife, etc and so on.

crazydave023: I don't necessarily believe this. Weiner made a lot of powerful enemies by going after Wall St. I wouldn't be surprised if this alleged information was leaked at the exact time Weiner was surging ahead in the mayoral polls. Don't forget who stands to gain the most by seeing him lose.

Right.  So according to you this was leaked by the entire population of NYC.  Those are the people who would benefit from him losing the race.

Yeah, "Danger" is supposed to be the middle name.

Mayor Christine Quinn.

According to the site, Weiner used the handle "Carlos Danger" when talking to the woman:

Carlos Danger? Charlie Danger? C.D.? Cross Dresser?

We're through the rabbit hole, people!

I doubt this is going to hurt him in the mayoral race. This is New York City not someplace like Salt Lake City. I pretty sure most New Yorkers would look at something like this and say meh.

Doesn't seem misleading, he's being accused of a new sexting scandal, and going by the name "Carlos Danger". Also, it's Anthony Weiner, and the story has been updated.

I think I covered the whole headline, so I'm really not sure what part is even semi misleading...

I think you're thinking this was part of the original brouhaha, but it isn't.

Original scandal and resignation from congress: May - June of 2011
This: August of last year

So yeah, he pretty much just never stopped.

This is where you have to go balls out, to use an unfortunate phrase. Give a grand speech that reminds everyone of the great people throughout American history who just could not keep it in their pants (or wives) and the world was a better place for it. Ben Franklin, John F. Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Tiger Woods... Some people can only reach their greatest if they are banging everything with a pulse in a sixty mile radius.

Not learning from your mistakes is.

In general I don't (especially if you don't shout family values, which he never did), but I do have a problem with someone dumb enough to do this again *after* a public scandal and fallout and still hoping to run for office.  If these allegations are true (to the extent that he was doing sexy chat *after* his resignation), then he's not just a perv, but also a dumbass.

I'm a big supporter of Weiner, and thought he was a great congressman, and would vote for him if I lived in NYC, but even I agree with these statements.  He never stopped.  That's what this article is basically saying.  If what this girl said is true, this is kind of like the celebrities that go to "rehab" and then are seen drunk at a bar 2 weeks later.

They make the teary-eyed confession or whatever in front of the cameras, promise to change their ways, blah blah, and then go right back to what they were doing before.

Eh, she seems like she could be alright, but IIRC she's been very buddy-buddy with Bloomberg, and it would be a shame if she continued some of his escapades into nanny-state-ism.  Banning large sodas and trying to legislate trans-fat and salt content of restaurant and street food is the kind of stuff that gives progressives a bad name.

He's The Wein.  You can't expect him to keep it in his pants.  It's the source of all of his superpowers.

Well, hey, everyone loves Clinton, so maybe he can power through it.  He just needs to learn how to flash a shiat-eating shameless grin and play the part of the ladies man instead of coming off as smarmy.

Easy for Bill. Scoring a real beege in the WH is a major step up (on the Studly Scale) from posting naughty selfies to someone online who may or may not even really be a girl. Hard to look anything other than smarmy in that case.

Wein and Geraldo ought to exchange nasty naked selfies and then hook up for a he-man
handy sesh. Totes not gay, though.

Well, the fact that he wasn't cheating on anybody may have something to do with it.  (OK, technically, I think he and his wife are still officially married, but they split up in the 1970s and have lived separately ever since.)  Does anybody really care who a single guy bangs?

The difference is that Woods is the greatest golfer ever, Kennedy and Clinton were accomplished politicians who did things.

Weiner got a bill about Mohair and visas for foreign models.  Not much else.  Wait, now that last one is starting to make sense.

Funk Brothers: Anthony Weiner needs help and counseling to overcome this sex addiction and regain marital trust from his current wife. He shouldn't be running for mayor of New York City.

I don't believe in sex addiction....the same part of the brain that says we need sex also tells us to breathe air and drink water.  With addiction to substances such as alcohol or cocaine, that same "survival" part of the brain starts to think that the substance of abuse is just as crucial to survival as oxygen or water.  On the other hand, the healthy, non-addicted brain already is supposed to think sex is necessary.

That being said, I think he needs some type of counseling, because clearly he can't stop this behavior even in light of massive and very public (and private) consequences.  So with a lot on the line, and him being bright enough to appreciate the consequences of continued behavior...well that just indicates psychological problems.

Yep. It's just pure, unchecked arrogance.

Personally I think we make too big a deal about sex scandals in general, but I don't even think this is a sex scandal really. This is a guy who already pretty much had his political career ended, and no doubt caused a big rift in his marriage. He made tearful apologies to the public and to his wife, promised to make himself better, and was trying to get a second chance from the public and a new powerful job in elected office....... while simultaneously doing the exact same thing all along that caused him trouble in the first place. It's not like he slipped one night and sexted this chick by accident. And I think we'd all have to be pretty damn naive to think that this is the only chick he's done this with since the original scandal, and that there are none since this one either.

To me this is a clear sign of a guy who just thinks he's so personally special that no rules apply to him like they do other people - that he's better than other people just because he's him. That's the exact opposite of someone who should hold elected office - or even be in charge of any other people ever. I don't want him as my office manager, nevermind my mayor or congressperson.

I don't care if he goes to hot gay-sex orgies every night.  The issue is about dishonesty in my mind.  If he's going to claim he's in a monogamous relationship, then he can't also go doing all this stuff.

Likewise, if he's going to claim he's done with all this crap, then he shouldn't then keep doing it and then run for office.
