Good.

This meltdown is sad. I've enjoyed others more.

We call it a "302" here in PA. My wife had to do a few of those when she was doing social work. It's pretty scary.

Well, that took long enough

desperate for attention.  her career didn't go anywhere, so she has to act crazy to get in the press.  she should have just went about her business and rolled around in whatever money Nickelodeon paid her.

Why can't more children stars end up like Danica McKeller and Mayim Bialik.

All she wanted was to go to the lake.

Starting a bon fire on someone's driveway and burning half your clothes is no way to go through life, daughter.

I'm pretty sure she's just mentally ill. If she wanted attention, there's easier ways to go about it than become  a temporary ward of the state.

2013-07-23 02:35:04 PM
She's going to wind up in a conservatorship, just like Britney Spears.

You can forget about becoming a rapper, Amanda. Once someone has TOTAL legal control over you, you have to do what THEY say, and mommy and daddy are sure to put the kibosh on that idea.

Good luck, dumbass.

Today I learned two American terms for what in Britain we called "sectioned" (a reference to the relevant "section" of the Mental Health Act that allows for people to be detained or treated involuntarily).

So thanks for that, Fark.

She's from Thousand Oaks CA, where I am now.  She probably went home to see her parents and they finally get her some help. Good.

Yeah, anybody that voluntarily does social work probably has problems.  Sorry to hear that about your wife.

....

But seriously, my wife used to work in the welfare office, and often saw people on the flipside of involuntary commitment.  It was pretty bad; most of them were well enough not to be locked up, but truly not well enough to be productive members of society.

2013-07-23 02:38:12 PM
Schizo, I'd guess.  She'll be sitting in a corner, rocking back in a pile of her own feces mumbling "4,8,15,16,23,42" soon enough.

Yep, because we need someone besides Jenny McCarthy to scare people from immunizing their children.

In Florida, it's called being Barker Acted. Depends on the state one is in. Err, living in. Ahh, which American state you are a resident of.

/Really, really hope Amanda gets the help she needs so badly apparently.

I would say Joseph Gordon-Levitt as well, but he grew up in a somewhat "Hollywood" family (well, radio hosts and politicians in CA), so he might have had a better structure then most other child stars which helped him.

Seriously though, if back in the day somebody told me the kid from Third Rock From the Sun was going to be a top tier Hollywood actor, I would have said "Yeah, and the brother from Even Stevens will be an action star as well. What do you take me for, an idiot?"

she has a real PhD in neuroscience.  I'd be more apt to listen to her than that vapid twunt McCarthy.  I still don't believe it, but at least she's slightly more credible.

Do you know something that we don't? please elaborate if so. the article was sparse and I was wondering if any of my VC friends and family have the local inside track, I'm sure I could text or call a few well placed sources, but quite frankly lack the time or inclination to do so

Maybe his parents were smart enough to tell him that he had essentially a master class in acting by getting to work with John Lithgow.  If he was smart (which he seems to be) he would have asked John for as much help and guidance as was reasonable.  Jane Curtin, though not necessarily a great actor, probably had contacts that were a great for a kid just getting started.

TMZ had more of the story.

She burned some of her clothes.  Once was a crazy hot chick, was almost a crazy flammable chick.

And? Why should someone listen to a person that is incorrect just because they're "slightly more credible"? Assholes like her are endangering everyone around them.

I guess a better question is: Why are you defending her? Do you believe (as Ms. Bialik states in her book Beyond the Sling: A Real-Life Guide to Raising Confident, Loving Children the Attachment Parenting Way) that it's dangerous to immunize children?

I am with you - I think there is some serious mental illness going on with this poor girl.  Even the hard core drug users I have known over the years have not acted as strange as this girl has over the past year or two.  I am thinking there may be showing signs of schizophrenia at this point - there is a reason she is making Sean Young look sane.

Burn_The_Plows: that it's dangerous to immunize children?

I said it right in my Weeners to you, I don't believe it.  But a person who has a PhD has more credibility than Jenny McCarthy.

I'm defending her because, she got an education instead of being a farked up drug addict or dead.  That was my original point.

I'm actually quite uncomfortable with a sheriff's deputy having such authority. But, BUT, she truly seems like she might indeed be a danger to herself.

Hope she can find some kind of inner peace.

Who the hell just goes somewhere random and starts a fire?

It seems pretty clear to many that she needs help. The deputies who took her in aren't making a clinical diagnosis, just  getting her into the hands of those who can. Hopefully those who love her will do the right thing and keep her in until she gets well.
