I don't have much ill will toward Enzi.  But I was kinda hoping we'd have another Teabagger primary challenge of an incumbent that resulted in a Democratic victory for the seat.

She's a Cheney.  Her family bought more than their fair 15 minutes a long time ago.  She's never going to completely go away

I love the sidebar:

"Public Policy Polling was profiled by NPR as "one of the most prolific polling outfits in the country."

Yup, those boys at PPP punch out more polls than anyone else.

You know what, I don't care about her, but fark political dynasties.  We got rid of inherited titles for a reason.

Why? What does she bring to the table aside from a failed vision of American military hegemony over the planet?

This is the right thread for my "Liz and Dick" photos.

ah - supported by 50% of people reached for, and responding to, a poll in wyoming

the support of those 37 people must make her feel positive

He brags that his role in the Gang of Six was to sandbag the bill and stretch out the process as long as possible whereas Grassley and Snowe at least attempted to negotiate in good faith. Which is what make the primary challenge all the more crazy: the only complaint is that he uses his influence to manipulate bills to be more conservative behind the scenes, and Liz thinks Wyoming deserves a firebrand who will advocate for conservative causes in front of cameras but likely won't have the committee seats to actually do anything. Democrats should want her on the ballot just because Enzi is far more competent politically.

I can guarantee that if she ran for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate this year in Virginia nobody would oppose her.

Good - let's start with anyone on the SCOTUS more than 20 years. I'd gladly give up Kennedy to get rid of Thomas & Scalia.

Fark... I messed that up, was just trying to login but wound up posting a comment.

Shocking, what's wrong with you Wyoming?  How dare you see through a cynical election grab by buying a house in a state one year before and election simply to gain an advantages platform by which to be elected!  Don't you know how hard the Republican primary would be for her in Virginian thus forcing this ploy by her and her henchman?  You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Guess Dick isn't able to intimidate the whole state with his shot gun,

She's down in the polls now, but it's early - the Cheneys have more DC connections than most three term Senators.  She's going to outspend Enzi 10-to-1, and all of her money is going to go towards negative campaigning.

She'll win the primary. You can't stop derp this strong. She'll run negative ads about Enzi shaking Obama's hand once without punching him in the face or w/e Regressives think you're supposed to do when you're in the same room with the president and convince half the primary voters that she's better, the other half will go "oh shoot, knew there was something I was supposed to do today" and you'll have another Cheney in high office. Disgusting.

... Yeah, you kinda have to be a "career VA politician" to be a "Senator from Virginia."  That's sort-of how it works everywhere.

No, she won't be going away without wasting someone's millions a few times. But, it would be nice if she failed enough times to waste a few someone's millions. Once Daddy is gone the clock will be running out on favors he held against people. I have a feeling, this scenario might be pushing her to run now.
