Stop and frisk.  It's for your own good, darkie...

/Bloomberg gets a free pass from the left because he's mayor of New York, staunchly anti-gun, and plays the 9/11 card (though not to the extent of self-parody like Rudy Guiliani)...

Speaking as a member of "the left" I find bloomberg to be a dangerous tyrant who has not only been a destructive influence on NYC, but has set the left in this country back a decade by acting as a living embodiment of every right-wing strawman about how "liberals" think and that they really want.

The most recent polling suggests otherwise.  If you look at the .pdf of the polling results at the bottom of the page, a majority of people who identify as liberals (53%) approve of the job Bloomberg is doing (a rating of "excellent" or "good"), while only 15% rate his performance as "poor" (the rest give him a "fair").  The same poll also shows that a majority of Democrats (and an even larger % of Republicans) think Ray Kelly should be reappointed as police commissioner.

Hey Ray, you forgot to factor in the fact that guns have becomes 17% more murderous in the past 11 years. That should put your "Lives Saved" solidly in 5 digits.

Where did I get that fact? I put it on my blog and then referenced it so it's a fact. Then I referenced the reference so now I have confirmation!

He claims there were 7,383 fewer murders during the 11 years of Michael Bloomberg's term as mayor - which also happens to coincide with Kelly's most recent 11 years as NYPD commissioner - than there were in the previous 11 years, a decline of well over 50 percent from what had been historic highs. Kelly credits one of his most heavily criticized policies, stop-and-frisk, for contributing to the decline in violent crime.

NYPD Police Commissioner Ray Kelly who apparently has a little trouble with the whole "correlation vs. causation" thing says that he saved "7,383 lives" by having his police officers essentially ignore the 4th Amendment altogether

I thought "strawmen" were supposed to be... I don't know... "imaginary"? Well, here you have a real liberal, secure enough in his political power to effect almost any "nanny-state" policy he chooses. (>16 oz "assault sodas"- illegal.) He is the perfect example of unchecked governmental power and interference in daily life.

Noticeably better than both McCain and Romney.  Faithfully execute the laws passed by Congress (I don't know a good way out of this disaster).  Basically Republican light (or slightly less wackjob conservative if you memories go back to before Reagan).

Which requires individualized reasonable suspicion. Which is, quite often, absent in NYPD stop and frisk. Sure, they use words to make it sound like they have it, but it's reasonably obvious that it's made up.

He's failed at that. HHS appears to have decided it can reinterpret Obamacare at will.

And, the War Powers Act was passed by Congress (thought I believe it's BS), and he flagrantly violated that.
