We like to have a lot of laughs on the track, but today we're here to talk to you about something serious: Packs of wild dogs that control most major cities in North America. If you see a dog, don't call the authorities; approach it and lie down.

you know what would make that really funny? If the bird's words were not 1 point microscopic type... just sayin' it's kinda hard to laugh at half a joke.

The other half of the joke isn't a talking vulture. It's the presumed knowledge of the photo's backstory.

If that's a joke, it's an awful one. Just saying.

Especially since the child's parents were nearby and the picture was taken near a UN food dump.  The kid was alone while his parents got their boxes of aid and Carter thought the picture looked cool.

I did research on that pic when I first saw it years ago, it horrified me so much. What I dug up at the time was that the child was on a road to the UN food camp, and was alone (though the road wasn't deserted). The food camp was not within visible distance (but was within a mile IIRC), and he did not follow up on whether or not the child made it to the camp, or survived. He later felt really shiatty about this, his life went downhill after the picture and controversy with it and he eventually committed suicide. I think Snopes has something on it too, but not sure.

Regardless, that picture haunts the fark out of me.

Yep.  Food was nearby, and everything was hunky-dory.  Then they all got into their Range Rover, and drove back to sit poolside.

The kid might not have starved to death then and there, but he was sure as hell malnurished and living in squalor; he and millions of others.  Oh, Carter was President at the time it was taken?  Well then, fark the kid, the picture has no emotional impact, right?

Yeah look like a mix though, they're a little too thick for Doberman's, had a Rottweiler/Weimaraner mix that looked just like a Rotty but was just a tad skinnier than others of that breed.

Don't get a farking breed.

Go to the local animal shelter/control/pound.

Preferably a 'kill shelter', where they get city funds and have to kill animals after 2-3 weeks. Adopt something that is not a puppy but will fit your lifestyle and such.

Note: the 'breeds' especially the minis have nasty health problems due to shiatty inbreeding, and promote puppy pounds. There are thousands of dogs out there looking for a good home.

Many will be past the puppy stage and may even be house trained. Just get a mutt. They are smart, loving, and don't express the health problems of bred dogs.

I intercepted a purebred chocolate lab that was hound pound bound. Best choice I ever made. I like him more than I like most people. I also work in a rehabilitation type correctional facility. One of the jobs we have is at the local animal shelter. I am there three to five days a week to drop off a work crew. Lots and lots of great dogs that need a home. I fall in love every day.

Yeah if you have a kill shelter then try and find one there, always felt sad doing networks in there and leaving dogs. Make sure you get one fairly young, don't need a headache someone dumped off.

Most breeds are fine as long as you know you're breeder and they aren't puppy mills.

How big is the dog and how big are you? The easiest way is to try the dominance method where you get near them and lie down on them until they quit trying to get up and submit. It is a dominance issue that will let a dog know who they are supposed to submit to instead of being a dick.

My cousin has a French bulldog. Sweet dog, very smart.

I don't like small dogs. Once I can get my son completely over his fear of dogs (thanks to Granny's ignorant Pomeranian), I'll be looking for an Irish Setter.... although unfortunately my local pound and rescue place never seem to have them. Maybe Petfinder will find one fairly close. If not, just going for a mid-size brown mutt... or steal my bestie's Weimeraner.

And many are psychologically traumatized and will never acclimate to a household environment, play with children or other dogs.  You have to be extremely careful with rescues and 'pound puppies'.  I'm not against rescues, we have had two, but they can turn on you as fast as any vicious/attack breed.

Oh, and any dog, regardless of breed, is only as good as its owner.  Pits makes some of the best dogs in the world. I have one.
