That's why I like this headline. Very few articles I've read actually mentioned him in Snatch, which is one of my favorite movies.

Loved him. Was probably best in Get Shorty, but he had some great roles.

Btw, this is totally offtopic because he's not dead yet but speaking of great character actors, I was watching William Sadler in Eagle Eye yesterday.

He had a short scene but damn good acting.

Probably best known for the bad guy in Die Hard 2, but great actor. (Fun fact: He played the Grim Reaper in Bill and Ted 2.)

He was also in "The Shawshank Redemption" & "The Green Mile", plus he was on a few episodes of season one of "Roseanne" as Dan's friend, Dwight.

Unfortunately, because the series used a lot of licensed music, the US versions of the DVDs are heavily edited to remove the music.

I believe the UK versions are intact, though, and all regions.

His role in Shawshank was amazing, especially with that stutter he gave himself.

The music MADE that show.. Would it really kill the licensing company to let that go for a nominal re-issue fee?  I mean, it's not like there are a lot of 60s bands sitting around starving because the US releases of the series took away new gigs for them..

Okay, am I missing something? I don't see him listed in IMDB for SR and it's listed on his wiki page. Heywood was William Sadler

Yep.

Generally, people who own songs seem to want astronomical fees, or nothing at all.

I mean, the people who own the song "Love and Marriage" kept jacking up the price with every release of Married With Children until Sony finally said "fark you, we'll slap some generic muzak over the opening credits, explain to the people why we had to do this, and get ALL the money while you get nothing." And it worked, too. People grudgingly accepted the 30 second muzak theme after they were told they would have this and complete unedited episodes, or no further releases because paying for a 30 second song clip would make releasing the rest of the series unprofitable and therefore, impossible.

It's also why WKRP in Cincinnati got one heavily edited release, and nothing else... music rights were impossible.

I have some Crime Story dvds but I've never watched them. Back in college this woman that worked for Anchor Bay let me keep those and a lot of the other dvds they sent her; Xena, Highlander, Hercules etc. Didn't get around to selling them.

She also got Bruce Campbell to autograph Army of Darkness for me. The perks of an $8/hr job

This is too bad, he's one of my favorites. Nobody but my wife and I seem to like Big Trouble, but he was goddam hilarious in that movie. He manages to be funny and badass at the same time in everything he's in, that's pretty damn good.

A character actor who played the mostly the  same kind of role over and over again, in different stories and different settings.    Despite his limited range as an actor, had a very prolific career.    Good for him.   I enjoyed some of his work.     RIP 'stache cop actor guy.

The last thing I saw him in was Xfinity commercials, probably earlier this year.

Nah, the Sisto/Anderson days were the best post-Orbach.

However, a guy like Dennis Farina was the only way to follow up Jerry Orbach... completely different character, different style, a total opposite in every way.

/they always made subtle references to Green being connected...

BTW I think Paul Sorvino is next to go. Farina, a guy who played mafia types who replaced Jerry Orbach, a guy who played mafia types, on Law and Order. Orbach replaced mafioso Paul Sorvino. This is a trifecta that won't be denied.
