If he counts as underappreciated, Michael Gira. Although "music god" may be stretching it a bit.

I'm too old to classify anyone as a 'Music God', but I don't understand why more people aren't aware of Slaid Cleaves, particularly those who lament the state of mainstream country music.

And I've loved Susan Tedeschi since Just Won't Burn in '99, but since she and her husband Derek Trucks formed Tedeschi-Trucks Band - Wow, just wow.

She's kind of a rockabilly-torch song crossover, so will never be mainstream, but Imelda May! Holy shiat!

Without a doubt, cEvin Key of Skinny Puppy, et al. His output continues to be groundbreaking to this day. His significant contributions and innovations in the world of industrial/electronic music can't be disputed.

Discovered Imelda May via "Later... with Jools Holland" a few months ago- the fact that she isn't hugely popular in the U.S. is a damning indictment of American musical tastes.  Also check out the band's performance on the Jeff Beck Rock 'n' Roll Party- I've got the Blu-Ray and .mp3 of this, it's awesomely fun- Imelda May & Jeff Beck- Tiger Rag

Nice.

Given that David Lynch/Dead Man opening, I was not expecting the smooth jazz of Steely Dan/Steve Miller Band that followed.

Oh, and Karl Wallinger.

I just don't think Albert Lee gets the props he should get:

I've seen the may play with Clapton
I've seen the man play with Earl Scruggs

In both cases, he pretty much blew them both off the stage.
