Certainly helps make the Brewers' pitching staff look good though.

I once caught a scoreless streak this big...

They have some really good pitching that is being wasted.

If only that would spread to Tampa Bay.

At least they have that brand new stadium to bring in the crowds

You wouldn't want to score any runs either, if this is what you had to look forward to when you did:

There must be something about Miami teams and streaks this year.

Maybe Florida isn't big enough to have two teams.  Better attendance will precipitate a larger payroll and better teams.

The average Farker has gone much, much longer without scoring.

It also reminds me of a couple of different pieces from this segment.

Somehow I think the owner was psuhing for a live trained dolphin to jump through hoops, and this was the compromise

On the other hand, it may motivate them to go on a run scoring binge. A binge so great that that monstrosity explodes from overuse and has to be removed from the stadium, never to be seen again.

Marlins won't need to win any more games, as far as making money is concerned. The city is on the hook for most stadium costs, and the Marlins get a good chunk of league money anyways to offset the weak gate money.

Well with it just sitting idle it will just gather dust and maybe it will just break from lack of use and no maintanence

The stadium deal made Selig's buddies a ton of money and that's all that matters.

Next up suckers up, Tampa.

Yup.  Behold their team stats.

The pitching is a touch better than league average, even without Nolasco.  Jose Fernandez should get consideration for NL Rookie of the Year (tough year with Puig/Miller/Gattis), but he'll get screwed because he stands next to 23 homeless people and Jean-Ralphio Stanton, and plays in a tiny media market.

Turner's been good.  Slowey is sneaky-good.  The bullpen has been good, in a "young guy" sort of way with generally good results but too many walks.

But man, stare at that lineup.  Stanton standing amid 7 guys with 200+ PAs and an OBP under .300.  And Stanton isn't even all that good this year.

The only other guy with 200 PAs with an OBP above .300 is Placido Polanco, and he's slugging .294.  (This is still a higher slugging percentage than their regular first baseman.)  One guy has more than 10 doubles.

RBIs are dumb, but it's entertaining that they have an outside shot at being the first team in forever where no one has 50.  (Juan Pierre has been in 78 games and has driven in... 8.  Granted, NL leadoff hitter, but still.)

Don't worry. I'm sure they have a seriese against the Braves coming up that they can take two-out-of-three, or three-out-of-four, or whatever. Farking Braves can't seem to beat last-place teams...
