The Red Sea Star sounds like a fun place to go.

Yeah, that one actually was interesting in a good way.   Most of the rest were like "um, okay"... other than maybe the zombie/horror themed ones if you are into that.

I think I would eat at these places exactly once each ... just to take the stupid tourist pictures. Then I would be done.

// EXCEPT for the Giger bars, reserve me a table.

I'm opening and acne-themed pizza parlor.

I'd like to order the pupu platter

Lock Up makes the list, but the Robot Bar doesn't? They have a mother-fuggin' DINOSAUR out front and giant fem-bot mechs.

Zetor serves a mean reindeer roast and sahti! So I've been to one of these

It's a list of "strange" restaurants, not a list of "awesome" restaurants.

If that stupid toilet restaurant is on yet another "wacky restaurant" list, I'm gonna scream.

*click*

GRAAAAAAAH!

So Modern Toilet sports classic toilets as seats?  Kinda weak on the theme.

Are any of them in the aggressively nondescript Omi Goli building?

Rock n' roll McDonald's didn't make the list? What a sham...

Kinda surprised a breastaurant didn't make the list.

The owner of the Kayabukiya Tavern, the one with the monkey waiters, brags that the hot towels are untouched by human hands before being received by the client.

Hell, if we're talking about restaurants run by Wacky Nihonjin/Wacky Taiwanese, I'm kind of surprised Ninja in NYC isn't on the list :D  (Also rather shocked that the Safe House isn't listed, for that matter...)

TheHighlandHowler: Lucky Cheng's?

Also shocked and appalled that this isn't on the list, either :3

I miss the mars 2112 that used to be in Woodfield.

No Cthulhu bar? I'm disappointed.

Donny Dirk's Zombie Den used to be Stand Up Franks. Great loss to Minneapolis when it closed. A shot and a chaser at Franks was a beer glass full of booze with a shot glass of beer chaser.

The Zetor Restaurant, named after the popular Czech tractor band

Do they play tractors?  Or do they just ride them as they jam?

That H.R. Giger place looks pretty cool.

7th Son of a 7th Son: That H.R. Giger place looks pretty cool.

I can imagine it would be terrifying if you passed out at that bar and woke up there the next morning.  Those first couple of moments you'd probably be wondering if you'd died and gone to Hell.

My favorite theme bar is a Jekyll and Hyde pub in Edinburgh. Plus, an honorable mention to a bar in San Diego that has a stock ticker for the liquor. If you can anticipate the market accurately on any given night, you can get well drinks cheaper.

Yeah, would have been part of the list if it was still open. I tried to go when I found out it had pinball machines there inside a mini-arcade (including the appropriately themed one for the bar, Attack from Mars pinball machine), the place was already closed down.

dark soul
My funny story about the Woodfield Mars 2112 place. I grew up in Schaumburg, moved there when Higgins rd was two lanes dirt, rather than the six lanes concrete it is now. When I moved back to the Midwest (MKE area) I drove down a few times to be disgusted with the area and what Woodfield turned into. In any case, my then three year old insisted he had a "brother" living on mars. So my wife and I took him there. Better than Disney for the kid. He loved it. Sorry that they suddenly closed without explanation. Other than the outrageous prices.

Bourdain was there Friday night. Hoping to see a show about it in the near future.

What in the world was hanging from the skewers in that one picture? They looked like dicks. Also, no big shocker that most were in Japan, but the shocker is that more weren't.

I think I will avoid the restaurant that has macaque taking orders and serving food.

I live by Donny Dirks. I like it but it's spendy and they close at 11 pm. Also it is suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper tiny.

I bet that Disaster Cafe is either a very fun place to work or a total torturefest.

That Zombie bar is almost exactly like Zombie Burger in Des Moines. Which makes some great burgers btw.  The Walking Ched burger uses 2 deep fried Mac N' Cheese patty things as buns.  Delicious.

wtf japan.........

would try the underwater one and the Giger one.  that's it.

Wonder how many people get drunk and use the seats as "facilities" in the Toilet Bar?

If you're ever in Helsinki, do check out Zetor. It's kinda neat, and the menu has all sorts of interesting Finnish food. Don't know if they still have the 2 seater sauna by the entrance though, haven't been there in years.

I can only assume they closed down due to the death of several patrons...

/but what a way to go :D

LemSkroob: How hasn't someone done a Mos Eisley Cantina bar yet?

they would be sued in to oblivion by Lucas.

Course for the Force has a mobile Mos Eisley Cantina that they set up.

no mention of the Gothic Castle?

None of these are that much stranger than the idea of serving bland frozen Italian food in American strip malls.

Even if you have to give a big slice to LucasArts/Disney, there is still a shiatload of money to make.
