I think Dave, Krist, and Pat should do some Nirvana shows with Neil Young taking Kurt's place.  The coolness would be intensified by the fact that Courtney Love's head would asplode

It boggles my mind how good a fit McCartney is with them.

Grohl, Novoselic and Smear backed PM on 7 tunes last Friday night.  That's actually pretty awesome.

HuffPo did a thing on this.

Edgy Uncle would be a great band name.

So was this a Sound City Players show?

So, Nirvana still exists as a band with hired gun musicians that tour and play their greatest hits? It makes sense to team up with someone on the greatest hits circuit.

Two of the most overrated acts, minus the worlds most overrated frontman, on stage at the same time!

I wonder if all the guitarists had to draw straws to see who got to do the na na na na na na naaaa part?

You sir must be a troll. Nobody can legitimately call the Beatles overrated.

Doesn't matter, you totally would have never heard of them, nor would you even comprehend their music maaaaaaan

This is fitting because both Paul McCartney and Kurt Cobain are dead.

That track they did together is seriously fantastic. I'd get a whole record of them doing stuff like this in a heartbeat. I really love that tune.

12-12-12 event. No Cobain.

Somewhere there's good video with board audio. Just not here.

Some people substitute overrated for "i don't like them so they aren't as good as everyone thinks"

I don't care for them, can listen in small doses but the same goes for Zepelin and most of the other "can't hate them!" bands.

That said you can't dismiss McCartneys musical presence for the past 50 years, the guy never really stopped working.

That aside, yeah Nirvana was overrated but was the MTV face of the grunge movement and Dave Grohl is countless times better as a frontman and guitar player than Cobain ever was.

I can't help but wonder, with the success of Foo Fighters - if Grohl got the rights to call the band "Nirvana" how much bigger they would have been (than they already are).

Same lineup, same music, etc.
They could have cut Courtney Love in on the deal.

2013-07-22 11:39:03 AM
I'd really want to hear McCartney do "About A Girl", with or without Grohl/Novoselic/Smear. There's nothing about that song's melody that isn't a nod to The Beatles.

eikni: Paul is dead.

If you play the original "Helter Skelter" recording backwards, you can definitely hear someone say "I Buried Paul."

/goes back to see what's happening on the "Abbey Road" thread

//the Paul impersonator was barefoot

Sure they can. I mean, they were great, but that doesn't mean they weren't overrated. Nirvana too.

/likes both bands
//kind of fitting seeing as Nirvana is basically the Beatles with a punk sound
