It's amazing....it's around 4:00 British time and there's been a continuous stream of people waiting for a lull in traffic so they can stand in the middle of the street.

The link for the abbey road webcam is in the second paragraph of the article or here

How do they get the middle of the road from anywhere in the world to England?

You mean they didn't destroy a street in Britain for no particular reason?

Really? You don't say.

And people go to a historic street where famous people did something famous and recreate it? I'm amazed. Next thing you're going to tell me is that people take pictures where they make it look like they're holding up the leaning tower of pisa. That would be something.

Also is it just me or does this get linked every year or two?

Who is the bigger jerk, subby? The people out having fun and doing something they enjoy or the guy sitting in front of his computer laughing at them for doing just that?

I was there a few weeks ago on a sunny day. It was amazing the number of people standing out in traffic trying to get the perfect shot. I got a few shots, though they were more of the hot chicks that happened to be there.

Laziest album cover ever. Not a very good album, either

I walked by that crosswalk everyday on my walk to school for years, it taught me that tourists are crazy.

Meh. In Cleveland, there's a guy making a live-action version of the Yesterday and Today cover

How come tourists don't flock to Giant's Causeway and recreate the House Of The Holy album cover? That'd look nicer than a bunch of Italian language students in Bob Marley t.shirts all stood in a road.

Figures, I open up the web cam, immediately 5 girls stop in the middle of the road...

//why do they keep driving on the wrong side of the road..
////I keed

That webcam is incredible. If I lived in that area I would probably drive all the way around the block just to avoid that crosswalk.

Yup, I clicked the webcam and in less than a minute a group was doing the pose.  Cars actually stopped to let them do it.  Was going to make the bad wrong side of the road joke as well.

Also when I lived in NY I would go to the Upper Westside and inevitably there would be tourists posing in front of the iron wrought gates of The Dakota where Lennon was shot.

i remember watching an awkward squeaky Wayne Newton on Ed Sullivan show when i was a kid

Why not?  People from all over the world visit the cathedral at Golgotha.

After watching that webcam for a bit i say they need to hire a cop or security guard who's only job is to run up and punch people in the junk for being stupid.

Take your pictures and walk across the street when there are no cars coming but don't be an idiot and stop traffic yourself to stand there and take pictures morons. When i first started watching the cam there was someone doing cartwheels back and forth across the street.

I'd like to see tourists that today with another friend posing as Mark David Chapman and see what happens.

I've been there and done that.

Guys? Guys! STOP HAVING FUN!

I went to London a couple of times for work. As much fun as farking with the guard at Buckingham Palace and getting a pic crossing Abbey Road seemed like, I figured that both were probably overplayed dick moves.

Did "the walk" at the end of May. On my 50th birthday, even.

As a lifelong Beatles fan, it was immensely fun and satisfying. Yes, you have to be a bit patient to get the shot. Traffic is steady there. But if you're in the crosswalk, they have to stop for you. Just don't be a dick and drag it out.

Also, it's just a few feet from the studios, so picture fun there, too.

And hey, submitter... it's cool to be bitter on the Internet. We get it.

LULZ.  Someone did it just right now.

Actually for "The Eternal Frame" Ant Farm recreated JFK's Dealey Plaza assassination in downtown Madison, WI-not as funny as "Media Burn", but still...  http://vimeo.com/53734504

Did that in 2001 with a friend who wasn't familiar with the cover of Abbey Road at all, but he humored me.  It's one of my favorite travel pics...EVAR!

Silly Things:  You should try them once in a while, Subby.

Is the live cam POV on the same side of the crossing as the album POV or are we looking at it from the opposite side?

It's the opposite direction, mounted right in front of Abbey Road Studios.

They would, but they usually get distracted after recreating the cover of Presence.
