they will openly warn bidders that land mines might be planted throughout Ed and Elaine Brown's bucolic property in the small town of Plainfield.

Buy a small herd of sheep and let them graze for a few weeks. Problem solved.

That actually seems like a pretty legit idea.

Buy it. Lots of choices.

1. Day care center for problem children or first in line siblings to family fortune

2. Private training ground for bomb squad, SWAT, special forces training

3. Relatively Safe Bed and Breakfast for countryside Croatians

4. Creationist/Birther Conventions with featured strolls around the grounds.

And they say prospective buyers won't be allowed on the grounds until they submit a winning bid that frees the government of liability for dismemberment or death.

Do I get a reciprocal waiver of prosecution from the government for any explosives found on the property after closing? Be kind of a biatch to win and then get thrown in prison yourself for possession of explosives the government willingly sold you.

Yeah. Because you can't sue the gubmint if you get your leg blown off.
Yay, empire!

How about just end property taxes in "the land of the free"?

"The Browns, who do not recognize the federal government's authority to tax its citizens"

How'd that work out for you?

"They were sentenced to five years in prison for tax evasion."

Well there ya go.

So all of this cool stuff comes with the house? *giddy*

In prison...

ED & ELAINE BROWN: "Warden! The conditions in here are terrible!"
WARDEN: "Yeah, we had to cut back on a few things due to lack of funding."
E&EB: "You need to get more money then!"
WARDEN: (blinks, walks away)

Street sweeping don't pay for itself.

Someone should just tip the government that Al Qaeda buried a cache of explosives on the property. The Feds will check every nook and cranny three times over and when they're done, the new owners can relax.

Many of the rented items would not be returned in their original condition.

Personally, I think FARK should buy it and rename it the "Ron Paul Memorial home for LGBTQ teens and welfare queens." and offer free abortions and a puppy to everyone there.

The browns were rare individuals indeed, gun loving conservatives who aren't also cowards.

That's about as good as the sheep idea, except with a different brand of sheep that would constantly be trespassing to protest your new operation. Brilliant!

Tax militants? You mean the federal agents that swarmed and raided the place?

"They were sentenced to five years in prison for tax evasion."

They were convicted in 2009 of amassing weapons, explosives and booby traps and of plotting to kill federal agents...Ed and Elaine Brown, now in their 70s, are serving sentences of 37 and 35 years respectively.

If there are any deer about throw some corn or apples around the property. Use a catapult as a delivery system. Free venison.

If you bought that I wonder what type of liability insurance you would have to carry because of the possible explosives/booby traps.

/at least it should take care of the squirrels for a while

They do, for example to curb the loss in gas taxes because of hybrids and other efficient vehicles, some states are proposing mileage taxes because those damn Prius loving tree huggers aren't paying their fair share for the roads they drive on.

I remember this place and the Browns, it was a party atmosphere/under siege gathering with live bands playing and cookouts with live fire target practice. The majority of the "supporters" that came from all over to help protect the couple were fringe leaning, and undercover Feds. It was the type of event that Timothy James McVeigh  would have visited..
Right or wrong, the Browns did stand by their convictions..

I thought a good way to get people to dig your flower beds for free would be to call the police and say you buried some bodies in your backyard. But here's the catch: They dig everywhere, not just where you tell them to. - Jack Handey

If I buy it, once paid off does the Government arrest me and put me in federal prison for all the mass weapons found on my property that I had no know clue was there, yet later found????

We've probably got unemployed veterans back from Iraq and Afghanistan, right? I'm assuming there are some trained as de-miners. Put 'em to work.

Better yet if you want to build bombs and such, buy it and if the Feds come after you for something later you can just tell them all these bombs and mines were here when ya'll sold me the place.

Beautiful country and probably well worth the price. Subdivide and sell 5 acre parcels and you could make back your purchase price and still have land and building to spare.
